I must say, my experience was mixed. While the ambiance had a classic diner charm, the space felt a bit cramped. The menu offered a good variety of breakfast options. I ordered pancakes and eggs, which were cooked perfectly, but the coffee was just average. Service was friendly but a little slow, likely due to the morning rush. Overall, it's a decent spot for a traditional American breakfast, but don't expect anything out of the ordinary.

When you're looking for something simple, straight forward and freshly made right in front of your eyes (if you're sitting at the counter) Pinecrest Diner hits the spot! Open 24 hours (most days) and with a diverse menu with breakfast served all day, you can't go wrong with visiting this place.
At first I thought this place was cash only as there is an ATM directly in front of you when you walk in, but they do accept cards.
Had the Pinecrest Special and added hashbrowns to the order. Everything was delicious. The Iced tea was just as I expected as well.
I will definitely stop by again whenever I'm in the area.

A typical American diner, serving up great food fast but with awesome service and a lovely buzzing atmosphere! We both had the hangover plate on our first visit - mine with sourdough toast & fried eggs while himself had rye & scrambled eggs. Both were delicious and if we were hungover would certainly have provided a suitable cure!! We returned on our second morning and this time I had chorizo scrambled eggs while himself had the Denver omelette. Again, both were really tasty. Portions are huge, coffee refills are flowing and service is tops! Definitely a great substantial way to start a day of tourist activities in San Francisco

Decent place to have a meal, esp a late night meal. Expect a queue whether you go in the morning or afternoon or night. We went for dinner and ordered a couple of items. The portion sizes are quite big and we weren’t able to finish everything. So order carefully and not too much.
Service was fast and efficient.
Kindly note that even though the sign says “open 24 hrs”, that was not the case for all days. On certain days it closes at 11pm.

I really loved the hangover plate with the hash browns chili and eggs. My boyfriend got the pinecrest special with French toast, and he liked it too. However my plate dwarfed his and he said he could have used a couple more slices of French toast. Flavor was delicious, we were in and out in less than 30 minutes. Loved it

The Country Style Chicken Waffle is a wonderful meal. Chicken smothered in gravy was delicious. The Belgian waffle is a fan favorite.

Great place for breakfast and brunch. I’ve heard their lunch and dinner is good as well, but I haven’t tried it. The staff and manager were super nice and very efficient. Food came out quick and super hot. I had the corned beef hash and it was very good. It’s a massive portion of food for the money. There was a standing line outside the morning I went, however it moved very fast. The atmosphere was top notch- open kitchen view so you can watch the chefs work their magic.

The location is hard to notice if no line outside. I went in early morning to avoid lines. It is a small space with lot of sittings. probably can be fit in 80-90 people in the same time. No waiting space inside, so if you see lines outside, the waiting may not be that long. The food is classic American breakfast, the portion is HUGE, taste is okay, my gravy was cold. Services are great, staff is very friendly. The kitchen service is incredibly organized, no modern ordering system, but everything goes smoothly, very clean, the staffs are so calm and efficient, pretty amazing to watch. Give a try if there is less than 3 groups waiting outside.

Great mom and pop restaurant. Small menu with a few specialties. My favorite is the Moose. Please try it we got the big one. Hash browns with Biscuits and Gravy on top with Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs on top of that. The gravy was delicious with large chunks of sausage in it and very creamy. The hash browns had chunks of bacon cooked in. Please give them a try when you're close by. Seating is limited so be prepared for a possible wait though we were lucky and had none when we were there.

Food - lovely and spot on.
My hubby ordered Belgium fried chicken and waffle. Huge portions. Had 4 huge fried chicken. And that chicken was so good. Crispy, juicy, tender and right on seasoning. The waffle is so huge, crispy outside and fluffy inside. That was a delight. The country style gravy - I liked it! It's not so thick nor runny. Just perfect and tasty. It's his order, but we enjoyed it 😅😊.
Then I ordered the chicken fried steak with Belgium waffles. Same feedback for the waffle and gravy. My order had 2 over easy medium on the side, and yup, they cooked it right. The chicken fried steak is also crispy, not dry and seasoning is spot on!.
Overall-- we are full, happy & satisfied customers.

Best diner I have ever been to. And quite possibly the best food I have ever had dining out. There were four of us all getting different thing; country fried steak and eggs, pinecrest burger, steak sandwich and fish and chips. We all loved what we got!! Also we sat at the counter and watching the cooks was great. Can't wait to go back.

Pinecrest was one of our favourite diners whilst visiting San Francisco. The coffee was good and the corn beef hash was one of the best I’ve had in the city! Staff were all friendly and the service was very good! Highly recommend a visit!

The cue to get in was well worth it! Proper authentic American diner - great experience for us Brits ;-) breakfast was super especially the hash browns (much better idea of doing them this way - a crispy pile of shredded potato!!) & staff were very efficient.

The steak dinner was fantastic. Couldn't eat it all. The leftover steak was still tender after getting cold! Awesome!

The patty melt with feta was amazing. Very friendly and efficient service. The server was on point and waiting on the entire diner and kept up like a champ! I will go back.

Visiting from England I had noticed the queues outside as I'd passed this diner so we chose to experience the full American breakfast diner yesterday. Service was great and I had the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs, coffee and orange juice .. all very efficiently delivered and we felt very welcome. Not sure what would have made it 5 star so I'll go with 4.5 ! 🇺🇸

I love to eat here any chance I possibly can. Was in last night at the counter which is my favorite area to sit. It's fascinating watching the cooks. My bacon and eggs with sourdough toast was awesome. The service was great! My friend had the pinecrest special. We love that they are open 24/7 and breakfast is served all day.

I've been coming to SF for a conference every Feb. for about 20 years and this is my go-to breakfast spot. Food is always good, service is often spotty like today when they seemed understaffed. That's OK it's very early and I'm in no hurry.

I went in to have a coffee and buy some food to go. I sat down. They immediately told me i could not sit there and to go and sit at the counter. They didn't. ask if I had someone coming They didn't have anyone waiting for a table and had three tables were available. I told i wouldn't be long and would move if a Big party comes in. I then waited. 5min later a waiter said the other waiter would be right with me. I waited. Some new customers came in. Tgey immediately seated them and gave them water. (By the way I didn't get water)
Bad service customer servicr. I went yo the fron t y o tell them. I wanted to order. They said i could sit down only at the counter and that's why no one waited on me I then sat at the countet. I waited No one came to take my order so I left. I didn't feel important or valued as a customer
