Lovely little place, open late to accommodate my dinner schedule which was after a show. Very friendly and super fast. Fresh sushi, I was pleased :)

Absolutely loved this place. Went back 3 times. Both meat and vegetable ramens were very tasty and full of flavours. As others have said, the waitress is very attentive and nice.

I was absolutely blown away. This is the best sushi I have ever had, and that is not a small list. I got sushi omakase and I am so glad I did. This was incredible. I cannot overstate how much I loved it. I saved this in my phone and it is the first place I will eat next time I am in town.

Sakana is a low risk high reward sushi find in San Francisco. Not many sushi restaurants are run by Japanese folks but this is one of them! It’s usually Chinese or Koreans so this was a pleasant surprise. The lady serving us was nice and attentive as well. Overall a good experience for us. We have a thing for soft shelled crab and squid. They have a special going on for squid skewers but we went for the soft shelled crab and fried squid legs. The soft shelled crab was good and the dipping sauce compliments it well. The squid legs were alright - nothing great but nothing bad either. The omakase was the selling point for us. They offer 9pc for $35 AND it comes with UNI as well. $35 omakase sounds too good to be true right? Well I did say there’s some risk involved 🫠. A lot of reviewers highlighted the cuts and freshness but we found the color to be a little off today. Luckily, the flavors weren’t off. Some of the pcs have more wasabi than desired but this is a preference thing. We would definitely come back again for more.

Fantastic sushi! The Omakase was fresh, delicious, and so affordable. I've been to pricier and flashier places that didn't hold up to this quality taste. This will be my new go-to place whenever I'm in town.

Loved our dinner, service was kinda slow as it was a full house and only One waitress for all the tables, so keep that in mind. As I walked in I waited around five minutes to be seated I chose the bar always nice seeing the chef in action, the food was exceptional. Every fish was cut to perfection fresh light and all you can ask for. All the food in the pics was around 100$ which is not bad at all!

Sakana constantly had a line out the front, such a small venue, I HAD too know why! We ordered the agadashi tofu, fried chicken and soft shell crab tempura. As well as edamame, miso and rice. Everything was infused with flavour, even the classic miso was like no other I had ever tried. The food was delicious. The fried check however was very spicy with no indication of that on the menu, but still very yummy. This sake from the can is also very nice, as well as the classic asahi beer we shared. Overall... if ever in SF I will be back for sure. (Also cleanest toilets I've seen in any restraunt ever in SF.)

Great sushi does not have to be overly expensive in S.F. You will enjoy Sakana sushi 🍣 and the relatively affordable prices. I walked by many times before finally stopping in. Wish I would have done so sooner. During busy times there is a short wait. It’s a small place with 8 tables and a bar. They do not charge for their green tea.
