Review Tommy's Joynt - San Francisco

Busted…I went full throttle. Ordered the Jack Tar which includes a little bit of all meats, and there was about 8 different types of meat, it was bonkers…and hearty. I also ordered a carrot cake and soda, both sweet and tasty. The bartender was cool, and while I was glad they had non alcoholic beer, my brother was happy they had good price gin drinks. Lol! Always fun to stop in for a quick dinner, and always affordable. SF staple.

So glad I made it out here! I was visiting the city and had this on my list of places to go, but I kept not making it. Finally on my last day in the city I had some hours to kill after the event I was attending ended and I was waiting for my flight. Walked over from Japantown, got in line. There was a wait, but it was totally worth it for the dinner plate! I can see why this is so beloved in SF. My only regret is that I didn't get here sooner. Will definitely come back here next time I'm in SF. Get the regular plate, I think it's a good deal for the amount of food you get, especially if you're really hungry

I stopped by this place since it was near the music venue I was attending. I first went for dinner. I wanted to try the turkey sloppy Joe, but it looked like it had been sitting out for a while. No line, grabbed a bbq sandwich with slab cheese on sourdough bread. Was delicious. Then, after Show, Stopped and grabbed the same sandwich but on wheat bread. The sandwich was delicious but the sandwich wasn't really that big for the price you pay. The slab of cheese is 2 slices of cheese. If ever in that area again will for sure try one of the plates they offer.

This is a neighborhood bar that has become iconic for visitors. Great drinks, strong if you like them that way. Bartenders are great. Hot sandwiches, hofbrau style. Watch a game, enjoyable friendly crowd

A San Francisco institution. Been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Locals know. If you want some great comfort food with a little history this is the spot!

SF classic no frills hoffbrau. They now take credit cards for a small fee. Great drinks. Comfort food. Great place to take visitors.

I'm a local, I live up the street -- I eat here 2x3 times a week and have consistently for the last 6 months. I don't suppose this trend wiill stop any time soon. Delicious food and good prices. Never have walked out hungry or feeling like I overpaid. Drinks are exceptionally cheap and delicious too ($6 for a blood mary??)

A nice place to eat. Great portions. Lots to look at. Good prices. Good Cole slaw. Fast service. No parking of course. Definitely come in, there's a reason this place has been here for a million years. Super nice staff. CASH ONLY!

We had Thanksgiving dinner there. There was a little wait but it went by quickly. You had a choice of sides served with your choice of Turkey or ham. My man & I enjoyed this dining experience.

Passing through the city on my way to the airport and had to stop by Tommy’s. Delicious!

My first time going to this place I went here on a dinner date I loved it the atmosphere was great people were friendly we went upstairs to a secluded dining area and we were left alone and it was peaceful and romantic and the food was great I had barbecue and it was so tender it practically fell apart in my mouth. Prices were good also. We both had full dinner plates for roughly 35 dollars total.

Tommy's Joynt is a classic in the city. Classic American food in a bar environment. Definitely worth to check it out, the meat is delicious and they always have quite some options there. Don't hesitate to grab a beer in addition to the food

Pretty average spot. I enjoyed the deli versus bar decor, but the food was nothing special at all. Had a pastrami rye, they only had Swiss cheese, no sauerkraut. Rye bread was basic. Pastrami was basic. I took some lasagna to go. It was ok.

I love Tommy’s Joint. Had the open face Turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes & gravy on my most recent visit. Definitely a favorite spot of mine for many years, always a good choice!

Love this great chow house. Food is plentiful and the price is amazing. I had ribs and they were moist with a tangy sweet and sour sauce. My partner had a brisket roll which he enjoyed. Compared to many of the expensive places around this was a refreshing change and fun if you love American BBQ flavours. Good selection of beers and liquor available.

Came back here after more than 10 years since my first visit. Place seems to e very quiet. I guess it was a late Sunday evening.

Best food i had in town. Me and my wife eat there many times of our visit and loved the plase. Super nice staff. Parasta ruokaa kaupungissa. Tulee ikävä niitä ruokia kun paluu koittaa. Aivan huippu palvelu.

We were in the city for a concert and dropped by here to eat dinner beforehand and we loved it. An older resturant with lots of character. The line was short & quick, the selection was good, pricing was reasonable and the food tasted great. (It's an order at the counter and take your meal to your table kind of place). The staff was friendly and the waitress was very attentive once we sat down with our plates to order our drinks and she was very informative about the beer selection (which there was a lot to choose from). I ordered the corned beef and cabbage with potatoes and it was so delicious and my husband ordered the pastrami dinner with mashed potatoes with gravy and he also enjoyed his meal. We were overall very happy with our experience. We loved the ambiance... it's a fun place and we will definitely be back again. Only thing to remember is if you go there... have cash because it's a cash-only restaurant but if you do forget, they do have a ATM :-)

I love this place it is one of my Landing strips and one of my favorites I've been all over the country to New York , New Jersey Boston, Philly and a former resident of Southern California . When I'm here in the city I'm always looking forward to coming here the history equals dumpy dive bars in the likes of Elizabeth New Jersey I will always return to this establishment I'm not like some of these previous " snobbish " posts that have no scope of History this place is 70 years old which is young in comparison to being in places that are well over 150 years old I highly recommend this place . CHEERS

It was good and prices were reasonable. Its 21st century and i dont carry cash and ur place is cash only. The turkey lunch was good along with the mac and cheese. I wil go eat there again.

Visiting SF from Texas and had to visit this wonderful place and I had a delicious turkey dinner. Thank you guys for the best meal I’ve had in a while.

Love Tommy's. Been going since '69 when Sherry Cohen & I were in SF on our honeymoon & many times, often more than weekly since moving to the Bay Area in' 75. Excellent Sandwichs. Good hofbrau-style food. Nothing gourmet so no Michelins, LOL, but delicious. Great $6.00 Irish coffee as good as the Buena Vista's. Love the BV but their Irish is around twice the price! Tommy's NY-style pickles are terrific. Taste like they did from the Brooklyn & Philly barrels! Great bar. All cash only to keep the prices down.

Local friends brought me here a couple of months ago because they know I love good food and eclectic locations. I was not disappointed. The place is a treasure. The food fresh and delishous. And the staff friendly. Have the turkey. It's excellent. I can't wait to visit there again.

We drive in from Sacramento just for the pastrami sandwich with Swiss cheese. Love this place! Excellent Bloody Marys too.

This historic place is great on the quality and quantity of the food they serve. Well priced and centrally locates to lots of lodging spots. We just walked up the street a little ways and walked off our stuffed tummies afterwards. A must visit!

Tommy's joint is a fantastic place. Friendly, High quality for low prices. A special mentions for the fantastic t-shirt weared by the staff! I recommend It!

As always, a great place to eat. Generous portions at great prices. We didn't have drinks this time, but they have many, many choices, and wont empty your wallet. :)

Meat, Meat, Meat, Meat, Meat Meat. Mashed taters not so much MEAT makes up for them. I recommend the Meat at Tommy's I almost got the Salmon.. didn't.

Simple Hofbrau. Tasty food; but, the place could use a good deep cleaning.
