Review Bann - San Diego

This place is amazing! Four words: Best. Korean. Food. EVER! I ordered the premium steak. No problem! The white rice you might ask? Perfect! I can’t even explain how delicious the meal was! 😘👌 Yum. I went to the Mira Mesa location and our fill-in server was Big Poppa. He was amazing! I don’t know how he’s not the main server! Yum! :)

This is my first time here and it was great. Our server was very attentive and was available when needed. The menu was simple and had a variety for everyone palettes. So everyone in the party was able to enjoy everything. The ambiance is chic although I feel like we're in a club vs a restaurant. The music is loud and every other minute someone is greeted happy birthday.

Gen is sooooo popular, I heard a lot of good things about this place. But I have to say this place is not my place. I mean, the meat is kind of fresh, the choices are a lot. And more important, the price is very reasonable. But the marinade for the meat is over sweet, every marinaded meats are too sweet to my taste. Also it’s super loud here, we barely hear each other, we have to almost shout to talk. And the whole space is very smoky. I mean, maybe I love here when I was 20s, but not now.

Amazing Korean food for a fair price. The atmosphere is lively and musical but it is a great place to meet up with friends for a good meal (just make sure to come hungry). They have a wide variety of selections for both meat and branch’s and the seating was quite comfortable.

Great place for large party’s, always good music playing and service is on point. Beer is cold, stove top hot, pick what you want to eat for the next two hours and enjoy a great atmosphere.

Just as good if not better than other Gens we have tried. Service here was much faster than the Carona Gen but it was a Tuesday night. Everything was what we expected, cuts of meat and marinades had the same flavors but I will say the Japchae came steaming and seemed like there was much more veg so that hit the spot. They still were out of my beloved beef tongue which has been across-the-board at most the korean barbecue spots especially the gens. I am happy to report that the marinades mark insisted between the restaurants and the biscuit was cut perfectly just like I like it. I will say that after our 3rd round of ordering brisket and this has been consistent between some of the restaurants that the last round usually isn't brisket my guess would be a sirloin so just something to be aware of. I guess if you aint cheating then you aint trying but it wasn't a big deal to me I still love coming to this Korean barbecue house.

Had a fun time at Gen. The food was great and the portions very good. The price was perfect as well. Didn't feel it was too much. The drinks where all good as well(tasty and refreshing). I would recommend Gen to anyone looking for good Korean BBQ. The only negative I can think of is the wait time. Make a reservation if you can...but it's worth it.

Awesome food, spectacular decor, chill vibe, and very nice staff. I'll go back for sure.
