Fun sandwich shop right next to Petco Field in San Diego. Has "Holler Mountain" Coffee from Stumptown in Portland Oregon..very good coffee! Soda fountain is a non Coke/ Pepsi product..also very good!
Ordered Rueben.. yummy! Potato chips were house made I believe and they were very good!
I've eaten at Luckys across the street.. this block has 2 great deli sandwich locations! Both were very good!
I'll have to visit Larry's again to see which spot is going to be my favorite.
This is my top sandwich spot. Eaten here three times and had 5 of the ten sandwiches (I'm not a glutton, actually quite the opposite...I share half with my wife and visa versa. Sharing is caring.)
Location: It's a small but clean and relaxing spot. Nothing fancy, but well done and nod to the forthcoming quality and craftsmanship displayed in the sandos.
Service: Always outstanding. Quick (even when 7 people ordered before me, I got served in 10 minutes), and caring. Who I can only assume is the owner has, every time I've eaten there, asked me how the food is. She cares, and it shows not just in the location and food, but in the service provided. You feel welcome and valued as a customer.
Now the Food: Like I said, 5 of the 10. Tuna, Porkchetta, Turkey, Ribeye, Philly. Since individual tastes differ, I'm not going to give a mouthwatering description of each, and they were all mouthwatering. I'll describe my current favorite, the shaved Ribeye. The sandwich itself is served cold, which makes it surprisingly refreshing. The ribeye itself is very flavorful and is buoyed extraordinarily well by the horseradish spread. A smooth cheese (havarti?), crisp pickled red onions, and a leafy green add to the fresh bite of flavor the sandwich provides. It's simple but in its simplicity is the quality and freshness. It's wonderful. (For a maximum savory yet just as delicious effect, go with the porkchetta...a hot delicious mess of a sandwich).
Larrys is too new to be an institution, but in a sandwich city devoid of them, their straightforward, high quality and fresh sandwich options are a great step to that direction. Very happy to have you in downtown San Diego, Larrys deli.
(PS: Just found out Friday and Saturday from 11 pm to 4 am they have a late night menu - frito pie and grilled cheese anyone?!? Count me in. Next review update will be at the behest of the frito pie.)
Absolutely amazing Ribeye French Dip sandwich on sourdough. Served hot and fresh with dirty chips and seasoned dill pickle slice. The horseradish sauce added a nice kick and the au jus was hot and savory. Great little deli furnished in a minimalistic industrial style. Board games add a charming old school vibe. Bathroom was clean and stocked nicely. Great deli right next to Petco Park.
One of my all time favorite sandwich shops in downtown, the entire menu is great. I'm not a big sandwich eater but I crave this place.
Great sandwiches and sides. Right next to Petco. The Italian is to die for. Potato salad is also excellent.
Amazing sandwiches! How can sandwiches be amazing just try one and hot damn it's totally worth it. My wife had the turkey and I had the meatball, the turkey came with some thick nice bacon, pesto, fresh tomatoes, and beautiful turkey. I had the meatball came with 3 huge meatballs a delicious roll and great provolone cheese. Couldn't recommend this establishment enough, go inside and eat!
For a good lunch spot downtown this place rules!!!! I have worked downtown around the Convention Center for years and this is the best deli I have seen. The sandwiches are a work of art and they have super strong cold brew coffee on a nitro tap. And the customer service is excellent!
We had a great meal! Our first time here, and the young lady Sam working the counter was fantastic. Helped my wife with a gluetun free options, and talked me into a roasted pork sandwich. May become a regular stop before Padres games. Thanks Sam!!
One word: Awesome! I visited in full cosplay attire at lunch hour during Comic Con and even though the line was almost to the door the food was fresh, delicious, and fast. The staff were incredibly friendly in spite of the vast crowd of people they had in the restaurant. The prices were a little higher than I expected but it was totally worth every penny. Highly recommend!
My wife makes my lunch for me everyday, as well as a daily smoothie in the morning. Last week my wife was in San Antonio on a business trip so I had no lunches made. Last Friday I decided to venture away from my office and get lunch. I have had Larry's Deli catered to our office a few times, so I decided to get the egg salad on wheat. It was so GOOD! I even had my wife make egg salad for my lunch this week! It's been over a year since I've bought lunch and I would go again! I go to several places around the East Village for business lunches, however Larry's is my favorite, along with their superb service and friendly service.
