Went for lunch and sat at the sushi bar, chef made us some halibut sashimi and tuna with avocado. One of the freshest sushi, ginger and Wasabi I've had here in San Diego! The atmosphere was relaxed and service was excellent. We will be back!

Miss this place already after moving.
Went back a bit ago but honestly it's the best sushi per dollar I can get in town. Their portion sizes are nice and big and their fish is always delicious. I was craving it after two weeks in Europe and trying the sushi there. (What's with European sushi places and using mayonnaise or mayonnaise based sauces on everything?)
Either way it didn't disappoint. Made sure to go as soon as I slept off my 30 hours of flights back to San Diego for a reason!
The lemon roll is my absolute favorite.

Amazing sushi! Not only is the fish always fresh, but they use such great innovative sauces to really bring out new flavors in their sushi rolls. Hands down my favorite sushi place! They have great and fast service, a fun environment, and everyone says goodbye to you when you are walking out, it feels like you are a celebrity!
I got the rainbow roll and it is amazing! I normally use this roll to compare sushi restaurants and this was the best I’ve had!

The restaurant has great parking. Walking in it is beautifully lit, we were immediately seated, service was friendly and good. The restaurant is neat and beautiful the bathrooms are very clean. This was a good visit.

Great rolls and creative rolls. The fried calamari roll was our favorite. Laser lights were a bit much, getting in my eyes and stuff lol, and the tempura left a bit to be desired, but overall great place, great helpful staff and again, awesome sushi rolls.

I’ve only eaten here once, but it was the best seaweed salad I’ve ever had in my life. It was on top of cucumbers, as seen in photo, super good combo! I didn’t love their version of the California roll though because it was like krab salad, lots of mayonnaise. I prefer just the krab stick in my roll. Anyway, good place for lunch!

The Lemon Roll was super and the Sashimi Salad was incredible. Both tasted fresh and the presentation was 100% spot on. Took mine to go and was still excellent when I got home. 5 Stars 🌟

This is our favorite sushi spot. The sushi is always very fresh and good quality. The service is always attentive and friendly. The ambience is fun with music and lights, and the prices are very reasonable. Our favorite roles are the Rainbow Roll and the Spicy Tuna. Our kids love the Miso Soup and the chicken teriyaki kids plates

Best quality sushi i have tasted! Premium quality fish, TOP SHELF !! and prices are very affordable and competitive compared to other shops. Only thing i dont like is the 18% gratuity added for more then 6 people , we were 4 adults and 2 kids both under 3 & kids just ordered drinks & we were still charged gratuity :/

Kenny's new location is AMAZING. Just visited for the first time after not having been back to San Diego for a while. So much seating. A+ fish. The building is super cool. My Uncle Steve was a regular here before his passing. This is my only stop in SD to pay homage to him.

Scrumptious sushi as well as tempura and teriyaki chicken! We totally recommend the lunch special. It comes with rice, sushi, salad, chicken and tempura.. we had to have some take away 😍

Not the cheapest place in the world, but fantastic quality and great taste in their sushi rolls. Yellowtail and crazy dragon are my favorite. Definitely worth the stop, and with being so close to State, even college kids could get some quality sushi without starving for the rest of the month.

they won't do take out for kids.....................why? the customer might cheat........what if I bring the kids with me........nope......why ......its policy............so the food is fine..........but customer service for people with kids non-existent (wonder if the manager has children?)

Great time and good food. We took our Japanese renter there before he returned to Japan. The atmosphere was way better than when the restaurant was in the small storefront down the street. A little noisy, but you have to consider the appeal for the college area student clientele. <br/><br/>We ate till we thought we would drop. The presentation was excellent and everything was really good. The pricing was moderate for a good sushi restaurant.

Not good!. This place is whack! We order three different sushi rolls they all tasted the same. At the end of the meal I was kind of disgusted of the sauce they used. They took too long for service. I won't waist time and money on this place again.

Penny pinchers!!!! Charged $1 for each roll for cilantro and additional $1 for jalapeños added !!!!! Have come here before and even when clarifying they had never charged for that before, young worker just said " I know". WTH??? Sushi is average but will no longer come here.

Good but loud. Great food and prices, but if you want to have a conversation while you eat, make sure you're done by about 6:30...after that the music is just way too loud to do anything but look at each other. Still, a great neighborhood place, just know what you're doing.

Best sushi place I have ever been. Along with great food, the atmosphere and kind serves makes your dinner just that much better! There's baloons everywhere loud music and the people this place attracts are you college student at late hour! Sooo fun if ur of age because the sake bombs is an event its self! We really like this place. The rolls are delicious and drinks are pretty good too. The only downside is into the evening the music gets so loud you have to yell at each other when you're two feet away. Probably just means we're old :) and when we want to talk we get take out. Watch taking the kids too-music is great but not appropriate for little ones.

Party atmophere a neighborhood vibe. Totally not what you expect from a college area strip mall. Give it a try when you're looking for an upbeat, tasty sushi place with energetic vibe and really attentive servers who always remember their customers. My favorite dish is the tuna tar tar with a Ginger zingy flavor.

Great place.. When I first walked in to Tokyo Sushi I didn't think much of it. It looked like someone had just thrown the place together with not much money. Within the first 5 minutes you get sucked in by the atmosphere. The music is great. Mostly hip hop and dance. It is played loud and with obvious intention. Then you order a beer and it is twice the size of normal in a resturant for the same cost. The menu has something for everyone and it is at great prices. The food was excellent. When looking around it seems to be mostly college age people, but this place is definitely something anyone can enjoy. It's certainly a great break from the typical sushi resturant. At the end of my visit I am hooked and will be a frequenter of this wonderful resturant. It is clear that the person who designed this place had intention to stray from the norm and it worked out great. A+
San Diego Food
We also got the Monkey Brains. This is a deep fried mushroom, stuffed with crab, spicy tuna, and eel sauce on top. We do tend to love our cooked rolls and this satisfied our craving for them. The tuna had a tiny kick to it and along with the eel sauce, danced around our tongues ever so smoothly. This had to be the favorite of the day.
