Omg! I can't believe this place has been 5 minutes from me for 6 years!! The baba Ghanoush was delicious and their kabob sandwich was FANTASTIC! I mean fresh meat, veggies bread and a lemony wonderful tabouli and hummus with fragrant olive oil. You can tell they cook like they're cooking for their family. No withered salad found here!! My husband and I are total foodies and we were so impressed with the love and care put in the food. Don't be fooled by the outside. It may be small and unassuming but the food is an explosion of flavor in your mouth. I had never had gyros that fresh ahd the platter is huge. Definitely enough for 2 people. I am so excited I tried this place. It's a family run place and you really feel like they've invited you to their home to eat. Can't wait to try more things on their menu!
Amazing food! If you’re in PB and want middle eastern food, definitely come here. The owners are very friendly and have a great variety of middle eastern cuisine. Came three times in three days during my vacation.
Thank goodness this place only relocated!! It vanished from the original location in PB, and my friends and I panicked!! Best, best hummus in the world. I cannot eat any other hummus but from here. The rest of their food is amazing, too- you cannot go wrong with anything (babaganoush, falafel, and the gyros are some of my go-to items). And the Israeli owners are the warmest. Thank you for sharing your family recipes with San Diego!
Visited this place on vacation this summer ('18)The best chicken schwarma on fries, I am drooling just thinking about them still! All 6 people in our party raved about the dishes they got. A very good, well kept, high quality family run restaurant. Truly, you are not going to regret going there, even if parking can be a bit challenging to find.
Granted I've only ever gotten the falafel sandwich here, but it's amazing! Freshly made, so tasty, every time. The owners here are kind and hard-working.
Hands down the best Greek food you will every eat. I refuse to go to any other Mediterranean restaurant now that I’ve had Vanoos. Super fresh, creamy humus (I get the plain humus in tubs for home) and love all of the spices and flavor in the wraps and dishes. Love this hidden gem!
Great Mediterranean food and it's very authentic and is family owned I think. Their food is relatively inexpensive and it has great flavor and they are very accommodating if you want something that is not on the menu. The one downside is some of the items seem to have a bit of salt and parking is kind of a pain to find for this place. Still overall 5 stars for food and service, one star less for the location.
This is the freshest "fast food" I've ever eaten. I actually thought I didn't like falafel until I tried it here. Usually its dry and hard.. not here! Everything at Vanoos is made fresh.. in other words it is NOT prepared from a package! They start with the actual garbanzo bean! Omg you can tell. The best part was.. I didn't even order that! The owner offered it after I raved about the gyro she prepared. The owner must have noticed how much I appreciate food cooked with love.. you can tell she puts all her attention and intent on crafting a fine meal and delivering it hot and fresh. The dolmas, again - incredibly fresh. All the reviews are true people!
A word about the gyro - the content was like everything I describe above - fresh and high quality. Other things to appreciate are the proportions and cut of the food in the gyro. Everything was sliced thin so that all the ingredients could layer and you could taste everything in a bite. Imagine a gyro where each piece of vegetable and meat is cut in chunks so you basically have to choose one ingredient per bite.. this happened SOMEWHERE else.. so thank you Vanoos Grillette for doing it right! I really enjoyed my meal and your warm welcome!
Do yourself a favor and stop and eat here. Great prices. The food is some of the best I have had. The kabobs and the meatball parmigiana are to die for. The Caprese is amazing! Seriously stop in here and eat. You will not be disappointed!😃😃😃😃😃
I told the owner that I wanted the same flavors I experienced when I was in the Middle East, and he delivered. The best shawarma I’ve had outside of the Middle East! Thank you, I’ll be back!!!
This is a little neighborhood gem with best hummus I've ever had. Small place with feel of a deli, but really good food for low prices. Personal, friendly family run business. Try it out.
This is the real-Arab-deal. Had the lamb shawarma and it was delicious, seasoned with baharat and dressed with tahini. This is not your normal boring Mediterranean restaurant. They have labneh, for crying out loud. If you want something delicious and unique come here. If you want the same old, Denny's is down the street.
