Review Holy Matcha - San Diego

McCall Castro
The cutest matcha shop I’ve seen - the atmosphere is 10/10. Very Instagram-worthy to snap a cute photo with your drink. That being said, the matcha is delicious and very smooth. It’s even served with an edible flower on top. They have a variety of flavors and sweetness levels to customize your beverage to your liking. Plus you can pick up some merch like crew necks and tote bags!

Such a cute café! Gorgeous presentation of drinks, and i loved all the plants! Seemed very clean and nice staff. Slightly expensive, but worth it. I enjoyed that they only had plant based milk!

Really enjoyed stopping here! Service was great and they helped me pick out the right matcha to take home with me. Avocado toast was super yummy and have been craving matcha ever since!

Had a couple friends post Holy Matcha on their Instagram and had to come by since I live close in the area. Normally, I don’t order matcha at shops because of the quality, however! When Casey told me the owner sources directly from Japan I knew I was going to return. Lovely decor and ambience and great hospitality!

This review is only from today, because usually they do agreat job when I've gone there a few times before. That or I swear the dowtown location is better. I got an OG hot matcha no sweetner. The matcha was barely warm and more watered more down than usual. I went around 3pm. But seriously if you're new to matcha go to the downtown location its prettier, the seats are cooler, silent and very chill, parking is 1.25 n hr tho.

Place is super cute & staff really friendly. I LOVED their avocado toast and regular chai. I will be coming back for that avocado toast ❤️

Very Pink, Very Modern, and Very unique drinks! They have wide variety of flavors mixed with Matcha (Green Tea). Horchata matcha, Chocolate matcha, etc. There is a lot of seating with some space in-between and one bench out front if you want to people watch.

If you like matcha it’s worth visiting this place. I enjoyed their regular iced, and lavender iced matcha drinks. The venue has a decent amount of seating and is located walking distance to several other shops nearby. It’s got a cool vibe to enjoy a drink and hangout. I’ll be back to try some other their others flavors.

Talk about heaven!!! Omg the horchata matcha was incredible and so was the gluten free donut. I love how they use really clean ingredients and still get everything to taste so perfect! I 100% recommend this place. It is adorable and really fun. I wish I had one where I’m from! This place made my San Diego experience very memorable.

If you’re in San Diego and you want to have the ultimate Matcha experience go to Holy Matcha! Even if you don’t like matcha or have had a bad experience with Matcha this place will make sure you have a great experience with Matcha. Their pastries are so delicious and their avocado toast is hands down the best I’ve ever had! Everyone there is great! Geraldine is the definition of a LATINA BOSS BABE!

A healthy and delicious alternative to coffee, Holy Matcha offers a variety of matcha based beverages and specialty drinks, all with incredible health benefits. Not an inch of this place is overlooked. You can see the attention to detail about in every corner, from the beautiful plating/latte art, to the (real live) healthy looking plants, and of course, incredibly cute and trendy decor! The staff is happy to educate anyone and everyone about matcha and properly explain the menu to those who are first time customers. They are always adding new things to the menu, and are great about keeping everything fresh, healthy, and delicious! I also recently found out that their matcha is shipped in all the way from Kyoto, Japan!... which is where matcha actually originated from. They prepare everything in the traditional Japanese style and even monitor the water they use to ensure a precise and consistent temperature. I could go on for daysss about this place, but I'll sum it up like this... -if it's your first time in, tell the gals at the counter! They are happy to help you and answer any questions you have. -never leave without taking at least a few (million) photos. -and show them some love on social media! I have seen so many scathing reviews that quite honestly just do not match up with the amazing and consistent service/beverages I receive time and time again. Holy Matcha, never change thank you for blessing North Park with your pink goodness!

This place is just simply lovely! The owners have put a special spin on making matcha tea delish! They also have made every inch of this space adorable! The colors are fun and whimsical. Super cool vibe all around! I highly recommend! Only issue...I am now craving their delicious donuts and live in Boston!

Overall design and aesthetic: 5. Prices are about $1 too high. I spoke with the owner about the logo, color palette and her instagram feed and she was really nice. She suggested I try the horchata latte and the avo toast. The toast was just one piece of bread, and had onion or garlic powder on it, which is cool. It was just way too much. Along with the red pepper flakes, way too much. I really wanted to like this place, because of its overall design, and I'm always rooting for the entrepreneur but the prices are too high and the food and drinks are just okay. After I left I found myself wishing I had just spend my $11.75 at Communal Coffee for their avo toast and a latte. They give you two pieces of toast and it's delicious. Their atmosphere is hard to compete with. But if your going to Instagram your drink, then go here. Literally everywhere you point your camera you'll get a Pinterest worthy shot. I really wanted to love you, Holy Macha... but I know I won't be going back. NP is a hard place to compete in the cafe game. Holsem and Communal Coffee are only minutes away.

First time today, and gotta say that it's my new favorite spot for a healthy morning treat! (Breakfast, or afternoon snack) If you're into matcha, this is your place! They have a delicious chia fruit bowl, brown rice baked matcha donuts, avocado toast, and much more! The place place is gorgeously decorated, and staff is very kind!

I felt bad bringing my husband here (because it’s soooo girly on the inside) but we both agreed that the matcha drinks were worth it! I highly recommend the regular iced latte!

I honestly do not write reviews, have high expectations for this place, but it was a total disappointment, the owner was somewhat rude in her way of speaking to me , At the time of payment tells me that only accepts exact cash and does not return exchange If I pay something of $ 15 with 100 dlls, I will not change back? ,Then I try to pay with my card and do not accept it ,The arrogant owner did nothing to fix it that kind of attention is that , like all people only go for the decorations only this

This place totally started the Matcha trend here in San Diego! Now every little Cafe is adding Matcha to their menu because of it. Such a cute place, great drinks, friendly staff, the Matcha horchata, the doughnuts, and the avo toast I had were all delicious! Can't wait to go back!

HOnestly I normally dont spend time writing reviews but after the owner gave me a crappy attitude, I decided I will. First they JUST open and their steamer wasnt working so I had to go for an iced drink. Fine, I can try one. Then they mess up the kind of milk I asked for, fine I let it go. Then my friend and I ordered 2 donuts. The owner, calls for 1 and I tell her we ordered 2. Instead of saying something nice and give me the donut she just gave me an attitude about it because she didnt know. She then proceeds to call 2 more donuts. I grab 1 and she tells me I am missing the other one. I explained (again) she already gave me the one before, she rolled her eyes, turns around to the poor employee and corrects her in front of everyone in how she got the order wrong. To end this with a cherry, the drinks were bland with very little flavor (no sugar station or anything else available). The donut flavor was good but it was more like a piece of cake, so I wasnt really a fan. In all, for the price and the hype this place has had, it should be WAYYYY better specially if they just started

Loved this place! People knock it cuz they think it's a place just to take instagram pics and such...but the drinks, food, and service were superb! I will definitely be back!

If I rated Holy Matcha based on decor, 5 stars without a doubt!!! I was amazed with all of the details and PINK everywhere I could stay in that selfie paradise for hours! Staff was so nice and was getting more and more excited since I thought I found a place only found in dreams..... until I tried my drinks (yes I tried two) Iced Green Tea Latte was ok nothing special but not bad either, lacking flavor. Drink number two was the Rose Lemoade not a fan and non of my friends even wanted it after they tasted it so took pictures of my cute lemonade but left it pretty much untouched.

It is beautiful and the staff are nice but the matcha iced latte tasted like a green seaweed drink. I have never had matcha, so I am not sure if it is supposed to taste like seaweed or fishy? If so, well I am not a fan. I have a donut I also bought but after the iced drink I could only drink a few sips of, well I am willing to toss the donut I am afraid to try it.

People were so friendly and talkative. The strawberry matcha drink was delightful not too sweet not too bland. The vegan strawberry donut really helped balance the flavors. It’s so yummy and you don’t feel too bad eating it ;) love the esthetics of the place super posh and cute! Coming here again for sure 💕
