Latte flight was alright, good flavor options but “flight” is misleading as its only 2 lattes (I’d usually think of a flight as 3+🤷♀️). The sausage bfast sandwich was alright, too sweet for my taste.
The woman who took our order was extremely gregarious and a delight to talk to. There was little to no seating Saturday morning @ 9am. Wouldn’t recommend as a quiet place to study/work on the weekends. It was jam packed to the near brim.
Parking is difficult to find on the surrounding residential streets, be prepared to circle the neighborhood a few times before securing a spot.
Communal Coffee is a beautiful coffee and boutique shop nestled in San Diego's North Park neighborhood. It has become my go-to spot for the best matcha lattes in town. Every time I visit, I am greeted with a delicious matcha latte that perfectly balances sweetness. The staff here consistently achieves the ideal level of sweetness, which is impressive.
One of the things I love about Communal Coffee is its aesthetic appeal. Not only is it beautiful, but it also offers ample seating areas where you can relax and hang out. Additionally, there is a charming tiny boutique filled with delightful items like books, clothing, and candles. It's a perfect way to pass the time while waiting for your order or simply exploring the shop.
Finding parking can be challenging, and certain days of the week tend to be more crowded. However, Communal coffee remains my top choice for indulging in matcha lattes and is an excellent place to unwind or get work done.

Con
The flight of coffee was hells disappointing--no bubbly water in between and the latte flight came in paper cups. Very different from the online menu picture
The online menu option right work is you wanted to order through the website
It was pretty humid in the coffee shop
The chairs are uncomfortable
Awesome vibes in this place. The sweet mint cold brew is worth the trip alone. Great lunch options too! Parking situation is rough but it’s not too bad. Friendly people. Always busy so your chance of getting a seat/table is mixed. Definitely worth visiting though and there’s plenty of options for everyone, including alcohol. Also a small gift shop.
Loved this place! Perfect to work for a few hours and enjoy a nice coffee! It’s usually pretty busy so get there early!
Has dine-in cup and plates for those wanting to opt for a low waste option. Parking is difficult with a 2 space parking lot and mostly street parking. Seating was hard to find as it seems to be a good remote working spot. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Very aesthetic with many items to buy. The açaí bowl was rich in flavor. The vegan doughnut was tasty. The mint coffee was okay.
A cute place to drink coffee, eat breakfast & lunch, study & work, and hangout. The interior design here is really cozy. You will definitely have a good mood to be in this space. You can also shop and buy some beautiful flowers here. I tried their avocado toast this time because Mark Wiens recommended that before. The toast is delicious but the portion is too small for $12. My parents in law had a bagel sandwich and a bowl of Cobb salad. The waiter forgot to bring the eggs for the salad. I’ll say I love here’s coffee and space but probably won’t come back for food.
Hands-down, my favorite coffee shop in San Diego. The coffee is amazing! Love the coffee-boutique-nursery combo.
Beautiful cozy atmosphere to get work done or snuggle up with a coffee and a book. I enjoy grabbing a coffee and watching them make arrangements in the morning.
My favorite part though are the people. The baristas and all the staff are wonderful…you can tell they are treated well and love what they do!
Beautiful cafe with a variety of food and drink options, as well as some home goods and the prettiest assortment of flowers. We came two days in a row to grab coffee and snacks bc it was so good. Highly recommend the black sesame latte, as well as the overnight oats. The only issue we repeatedly encountered is that the coffee side seems really disorganized and out of sync. There were ppl each time who had waited 5-10 minutes and didn't get their coffees, and even though they said they'd call out the names for drink orders, they never seemed to. Food and table service were really on top of things, so only the coffee bar has some organization issues to figure out.
This place has been one of my favorite coffee shops in San Diego. I’ve stopped coming as often since they discontinued their protein bowls, those were my favorite! I love the variety on the menu, they have many unique items. The lavender latte is one of my favorites. The avocado toast is usually really good too, however, today I received nearly burnt toast with a very small amount of avocado which was going bad. The quality seems very different from the other times I’ve been here, hopefully it was just an off day.
