Review Indian Grill - San Diego

Mindy Coleman
Wow! What a great restaurant! I can’t eat onions and that makes eating out at Indian Restaurants tricky. They can usually work around my needs with one or two dishes. But Indian Grill offered me their complete vegetarian menu and said they could accommodate me with ANY dish! 🙌🏻 I almost cried in happiness. The food came and was amazing! Be prepared for incredible service with a longer meal time.

Nice staff, very personable and down to earth. Food was fast and very good and the prices were affordable. I also liked the Taj Mahal beer that was suggested to try!

We were in San Diego and decided we wanted Indian cuisine. This restaurant is within in walking distance of Old Town so we thought the location was perfect. It was! They have patio seating that is perfect for people watching! The food was really amazing as well. Some Indian restaurants 'Americanize' the dishes too much. It was such a treat to be able to taste all of the spices without added sugars. They have a very long list of vegetarian dishes as well. The lamb was cooked well and more importantly not overcooked and tough. The service was fantastic and so attentive! We felt as if we were the only customers there because our needs were anticipated so well. If this were in my neighborhood, I'd probably be there 3-4 times a week!

Best Indian I've ever had and a breath of fresh air in an area dominated by Mexican cuisine. This was actually the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten. The atmosphere was great with plenty of outdoor seating, outdoor bar, and comfortable inside seating. Service was awesome. I was actually served by the owner. Great please, will absolutely return each time I’m in San Diego.

Our Comic-Con group of four ate here tonight and couldn't have been more pleased with the quality of the food. We had four different dishes and we enjoyed them all. Two of us like spicy food but the waitress recommended medium and she was spot on. The waitress and owner were very personable and attentive. I hope we get a chance to eat here again before we leave. Give it try!

My daughter and I had a very good experience at Indian Grill during our San Diego vacation. The service is good, the employees are friendly, the food came out in a timely manner and it was delicious. The dishes were a slightly different style than what I am used to but they were both very good. I would definitely come back here again.

Best authentic Indian food I found in San Diego. The food takes a good minute to arrive, but their beer and wings held us over. These dishes were worth the wait. Get the Chicken shish and the lamb madras. Best lamb dish I ever had!

Excellent food and service. Very dog friendly! Our two dogs got free lamb bones to chew on while we had our meal. I mentioned to the waiter I enjoy spicy food and he brought us out chopped cucumbers with Tajin. The food itself was excellent and the garlic tandoori bread delicious.

Just moved to Old Town (Mission Hills) and took a walk down the street to see what was there. Decided to try this place and loved it. Great apps/meals for sharing with the table (get those wings!) and the waiter (and his young nephew) was excellent; loved sitting on the outdoor patio with some light Indian music on the speakers, soon to be overtaken by some good live music outside the restedaunt entryway. Thumbs up on all fronts.

Dinner with Friends/coworkers

Indian Grill in Old Town has some awesome food and the service is friendly and attentive. The selections are really fantastic . I’ve eaten here many times even though Old Town is known for Mexican food and I’ve NEVER been disappointed!

Amazing tastebud experience. A must destination for your taste buds. Been loyal to this restaurant since opening. We are crazy about extra hot and Indian Grill certain understands. Ordered mild for our kids they were happy. Staff is well catered towards requests of that special touch of flavor.

Delicious Indian food in San Diego. Staff were lovely and food was great. When I said the food was very much like the Indian food we get in the UK, which is something I miss living in Australia, I found out the chef is from Bristol, UK. Us Brits love our curries, so anyone looking for a good curry in San Diego I would recommend checking this place out.

Great Indian food in old town.. We walked in 15 minutes before closing. Staff were very friendly and never rushed us. Variety of vegetarian options along with the meat. Servings were large and the mango lassi and garlic naan were delicious. Pleasant outdoor patio and good value.

Indian food in Old Town. Great hidden gem in Old Town. The dishes are very flavorful and definately not what you would come to expect for a tourist area.

Prices are reasonable and portions are just right. They offer Indian beer which is very tasty and refreshing.

The patio area is spacious and provides a nice airy place to eat.

Menu items from northern to southern India offer a great variety to try. Vegetarian friendly.
