Review Coava - San Diego

Justin Kunnari
Tons of seating, super clean feeling and a fun overall atmosphere. I enjoyed a wonderful decaf Latte (perhaps a bit heavy on the froth) but creamy smooth and delicious... Their decaf espresso is rich and smooth and is great in either a latte or americano!

This is so far the best espresso shot I had in San Diego: the barista is right down pro! Easy going, no fuss, very professional and excellent people skills. The place itself is outstanding, spacious, chick and with a touch of coziness to help you enjoy your experience even more. Of course I had to try their chemex brew also, and... spot on! This will be my to go place in SD. Come and try it out! Just a few blocks from Horton Plaza, train station and little Italy. Off the beaten path if tourist, stylish and the most important thing... GREAT Coffee and service

Wow! Great coffee experience, baristas are on point! Delicious Cappuccinos and Café Cortados. Can't wait to go back. Only drawback is finding parking downtown.

Nice coffee shop in downtown. Great alternative to the endless number of Starbucks in the area. The staff is friendly and this one of the few places I found in the area that does a pour over. Price is very reasonable for a pour over. The coffee here is pretty good but isn’t great. I did also try the cappuccino, which I found was above average.

Just your normal coffee shop around downtown. Located on the first floor of the Westin hotel. Had a latte and a croissant. Coffee a bit too light but the croissant is good. One other thing for me is that the cup handle is too small for me fingers ti hold..humm.... NFC payment, and free wi-fi available.

Connor and AJ at Coava really know their stuff, presentable coffee and very polite. Made me feel very welcome as a first timer to San Diego. As a Barista from Melbourne i can say i was impressed, will definitely be back here again.

Aww, Coava. What a blessing it is to have you in San Diego, finally! We were fortunate enough to meet and greet with the fellow Coava team members in Portland and haven't stopped craving the experience since. Service is personable (as you can probably tell), and you should expect top notch quality beans from them as well. It's our understanding that the founder, Matt, enjoys the meticulous pursuit of ideals coffee geeks dream of and it shows in the development of roast to the experienced baristas behind bar. Those that enjoy the finest specialty coffee has to offer will do well to visit Coava, enjoy all their coffee lineup, and pick up a bag of beans (they're fantastic and it supports the farmers that work so hard for it) - there's a surprise in every bag! If you enjoy doing work in cafes because of the ambiance, do that too! It is beautiful here, so share the experience. Instagram @coffeepourfavor Found this helpful🤔? 'Like' it 👍 below! ❓ Let us know! Coffee: Specialty grade with a huge emphasis on building relationships with farmers. The end result is definitely appreciated by us, the consumer, as the beans are so well-developed. Equipment: All beans roasted at their roastery in Portland on massive Probats. They utilize several brew methods some of which include the Coava Cone filters paired with a Chemex for pour over (most are probably familiar with the Able Kone (founder of which was a previous employee of Coava)), and espresso courtesy of the popular 3-group, La Marzocco Linea. Location:In the heart of downtown San Diego off of Broadway. Those that are driving may find parking nearby at Slate and F Street as well as a parking garage just down the street across from India and Broadway. Final Note: We have been fortunate to visit Coava in SD several times, and have met some fantastic people there behind bar. The coffees are always prepared to represent them faithfully, but most importantly: the service is beyond amazing; it has consistently been courteous, thoughtful, and respectful of time. ☕😆👍

Amazing café!! Great Boba... And delicious Bao Buns!! They serve the Bao Buns folded in half, filled with savory goodness... Must try them -- I am hooked. No joke. I have also had their smoked salmon sandwich---geez... It's so good, and filling. This place has incredible goodies, the BEST customer service (they genuinely care about their customers, and are always smiling)... they will be quite successful!! Good job!!

Please do yourself a favor and get the Coffee Subscription!!! I have one and it’s been amazing during COVID to have two beautiful bags every two weeks arrive . The coffee is fresh, seasonal, and each roast is different and unique. I’ve been so pleasantly surprised by how much I like it and how convenient it is to have it shipped to me. It’s also nice getting a variety of flavors, since I’m usually boring and get the same roast when I shop.

I have been all over the world and the country, and nothing compares to Coava! I come from Tennessee JUST to have their pour over and they always do a superb job! The staff is always SO friendly and educational, I always enjoy Stopping by! :)

Popped in on my last day in San Diego. Really nice place and welcoming staff. Picked up one of the Kleen Kanteen tumblers so I can keep my drink warm in Ireland!

Nice space and setup. The coffee tastes good. Good location for meetings. Located on west Broadway.

A ground level coffee-shop in the Westin hotel downtown. It's mostly coffee-centric (minimal food offerings), with a lot of sitting/working space and friendly staff. On a first visit, I enjoyed the distinct flavor notes discernible in my nitro cold-brew coffee. Coava has an entrance from the lobby of the hotel as well as outside doors. Airy and industrial-looking. The space is "long", providing room to not be crowded by your neighbors. Indoor seating (including a large multi-person table) and a good sized patio.

Amazing. The quality for the coffee and drinks is about as good as you're going to get. Get the honey latte or nitro cold brew. Two of my favs.

Very open seating and high ceilings make it a great spot for thinking, or talking with a friend or colleague. The menu wasn't overwhelming with choices, and the coffee was great.

7-5-21: Stopped for a ❄️ brew ☕. Tasted okay. Had a little bit of an old school ☕ taste... Like a Folger's like coffee ☹️. Too bad.
