Review Atypical Waffle Co - San Diego

I love the concept of a place just doing one thing so that they do it well. The waffles are delicious. Ordered it with cookie butter and me and my son both loved them. The atmosphere is eclectic and relaxing. We came when it wasn’t very busy so we didn’t wait for our food long. Recommend this place!

Had a great time with friends at this spot. Waffles are great and the Drewski's Lemonade is dope! Got myself a couple of bottles and I can go refill them at discount to take home. Very fun place to look around at while you eat too!

The speakeasy vibe of this place is a big part of the allure here. The menu is pretty limited (not many vegetarian options) but the waffles are tasty. Their whipped butter is incredible, but other than that it just doesn’t have that wow factor.

Best waffle place hands down, it really is a hole in the wall . Food was amazing and the service was even better . The vibes were on point . I do wish they stayed open later because I would so eat waffles for dinner . They also have a lil lemonade stand and omg best drink ever .btw I came from Victorville to try this place

A little driveway restaurant with a food truck vibe. It totally reminds me of the foodtruck experience in Hawaii. It has a very small menu, so don't expect a variety of food. Remember you're here for the waffles! I had the smashing avocado toast, and it was delicious. The original waffle was very delicious. All the sweet waffles were wonderful but I have a suggestion - please provide maple syrup! The smucker's syrup really ruins the taste of the waffles. Portion is small. So order a few things for your family. The menu is quiet limited. There's no traditional eggs and sausage breakfast food. I also ordered a Chai latte but the powder mix didn't dissolve on the bottom of the cup...

This is a North Park experience. I am not a waffle person or a sweet breakfast person at all. Who knew goat cheese, avocado, and bacon with waffles could taste this good. Food was good but the atmosphere was very unique. It’s cozy like you’re camping out. Love all the art, too. Kid friendly.

I have gone to this restaurant a total of twice and the first time I went it was before the pandemic, it had a different name “Wow wow waffle”. I had such a wonderful experience here that many years later I came back and had such an awesome experience once again. The place is wheelchair accessible. The person on staff was so nice and super friendly as well as welcoming. I had the homemade lemonade, the squirrel jam, the number Seven and chicken nugs & waffles. I really enjoy the eclectic, relaxed vibe as well as the greenery inside. It makes you feel like you aren’t in the middle of the city. Highly recommend for lovers of breakfast both sweet and savory.

Very nice and fresh Belgium waffle, it's crispy and fluffy inside. Cold brew was also excellent!! Love the ambience of this little cafe, very chill.

This is a great little hidden gem that is built in a converted driveway. Really cool display of art and local culture. The Belgian style waffles were great. The decor is vintage eclectic with lots of plants. Go for the waffle, stay for the vibe.

I've been coming to this place ever since they were wow wow waffle, but now they're their own entity! The number 7 is highly recommended, and there's a stacked number 7 now that fills you up even more. Don't be fooled that it's a single waffle. The waffle is packed and fills you up easily. Their drinks are good as well! I always bring San Diego visitors to this location because it just represents San Diego so well.

Had our first visit, yesterday. It did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and the outdoor atmosphere was relaxed & comfortable. We had a waffle sandwich, which resembled a Monte Cristo. Warm ham, melted Brie, and an apricot jelly sandwiched between two fluffy waffles. Delicious! We definitely recommend going

This place deserves a 6 review! The waffles are on point, the atmosphere is very welcoming and the customers service is great. The Number 7 with & candied was truly surprising. Never thought a waffle went so well with those. The kids had Nutella waffles and loved them as well. Great hole in the wall.

I’m so freaking angry... ...angry that this cute establishment doesn’t exist in Chicago! Inexpensive and delicious freshly prepared waffle delights, both sweet and savory, enjoyed amongst hipsters in a backyard garden type of setting. Drinks - sure! How about organic coffees and teas, selection of bomb sodas and kefir (probiotic) carbonated juices. Unexpectedly delightful and yes, atypical. Btw, their waffle batter isn’t batter, it’s dough - atypical? Yup.

Delicious! The waffles are sweet enough to eat with nothing on them, but the toppings are great too! My son is allergic to eggs so he tried the vegan waffle and loved it! Highly recommend to everyone!

Great food, friendly people, casual atmosphere! This is not your factory made food. The food was unique and fresh ingredients. I highly recommend. I would go out of my way to stop by again.
