Rib Fix in San Diego
While staying in Pacific Beach we visited Iron Pig. Walked from the Hotel. Nothing fancy, but didn't come for fancy.
The Ribs however were worth every step of the walk on a torn achilles tendon. Fall off the bone ribs with a few beers. Can't beat that. Service was very good as well. Check it out.
Iron Pig Alehouse is a friendly casual spot in central Pacific Beach known for its authentic smoked barbecue and stellar craft beer selection. All of their savory meats are slow cooked using hickory and oak for hours such as the pulled chicken, pulled pork, ribs and pastrami. Come with an appetite and be sure to save room for the killer Key Lime Pie.
About the only thing Iron Pig Alehouse in Pacific Beach might have gotten wrong is… their name. Not that it’s a bad name, but with San Diego county arguably at the epicenter of the national craft beer movement over the last several years, boasting in excess of 100 breweries, another ale house, pub or beer-centric bar is not likely to raise many eyebrows or pique a ton of interest unless it’s in your backyard.

Iron Pig Alehouse is a Texas-style barbecue restaurant located in Pacific Beach. S and I always have mixed feelings about trying new barbecue places – we’re pretty picky, being from the South, and we’ve had too many places that simply didn’t live up to the hype or expectations. (Our current metric for judging a barbecue restaurant around here is: “Is it better than Coop’s?” And pretty much every place we’ve tried so far has been, “No.”) So, it took us a while to actually get out to Iron Pig and try it out.
We came here for happy hour (everyday 4-6pm) Excellent rib tips and salad. The rip tips are $6 for a lb during happy hour. Also the palace is dog friendly. Good selection of beers on tap as well. Highly recommend
This place is fantastic. Lovely vibe, excellent music, beer selection, and of course - last but definitely not least - the food. I came along with my sister & her baby and the atmosphere was perfect for younger diners - that said there are spaces for bigger groups and I can imagine being here for a child-free night out! The meat is amazing - there are a few bites for veggies but just bear in mind this is a bbq meat place first and foremost (hopefully you can get that from the name)!
Final point - Service here is second to none. Thanks to our server Daniel S for a fab evening - you definitely rooted out the perfect Keylime Pie!
Easily 4 stars but just shy of 5. The only reason being is the lack of sauce. That's me, I'm West Coast wassssup we love the sauce no lie. Slow cooked beans, Texas Toast, and smoked wings were LEGiT. Baby back ribs were plentiful and great, brisket was 66% faat but was %98 delicious. Smoked wings were fantastical. Amazing beer selection. Saw some server issues with other customers, but I had only good times with my kids!
We came for happy hour (yes. Happy hour is back) 5 dollar drafts and 5 dollar food items. We got the tacos and the sliders and an order of rib tips to share. Food was really tasty but those sliders is where it's at! I got the pulled pork sliders. Will definitely go back for this happy hour!
This place is pretty great!!! I loved it!!! The pulled pork sandwich was carefully crafted from the angels who rock the armor of greatness revealing their wings to me in good service!!! I shall bring an army so that they may eat like kings and worry no more in the great bar The Iron Pig!!!!
This place is great. Simple barbecue decor, long benches with standard seats but it has a nice feel to it.
The food is delicious. I ordered the big plate of ribs and it really was good. It came with slaw, Texas toast and house seasoned fries. The fries were very very tasty. The ribs went so well with the house BBQ sauce. The portion itself was massive.
Would recommend this place to anyone In the San Diego, garnet avenue area.
Great BBQ, sides, and drinks. I shared the meat madness - more than enough food for 2. All the items on it were really good and the sauce was great too. There's a great selection of drinks and good happy hour specials ($5 pints).
Iron Pig is off the beach front, but for a cosy place with good food, this is pretty much up everyone's alley. I found the ribs great and all the pulled meats a little dry. Portions are large, so sharing is advisable. Slightly on the pricey side but not by much.
Good spot in PB for some barbecue. Being that my wife and I are from Texas, we know our 'cue and this place was a pleasant surprise. We ordered the meat madness platter and it was delicious. the portions are generous. The platter can easily feed 2, the short ribs were outstanding, we did feel like the brisket and pulled pork slightly lacked the smoky flavor, but again that just could be preference. our server was very friendly and the craft beer selection is awesome!
Food was amazing!! This was my 1st time being here but the staff was attentive, super quick if you go on a Saturday at noon and I highly recommend the beet salad with smoked chicken if watching your calories and the sampler if you want to try it all. Definitely want to go back
