Review Davanti Enoteca - San Diego

Cynthia Agard
We came for lunch. We sat outdoor patio. Nice waitress turned on outdoor heater. Outdoor music sound system great. Our food was perfect. Had meatball antipasto and I had corn salad. I highly recommend this place.

This little hole on the wall is located in San Diego's little Italy section of town. This street was hopping for a Wednesday night. We went as a group & we sat in the very back under the stars. it was pretty amazing. The atmosphere is vibrant and being there was no roof it was a very different experience. Our server was very friendly & accommodating. She suggested the Focaccia Di Recco which was absolutely amazing!  My entree was the Rigatoni Alla Vodka with grilled chicken. So tasty! The pasta was a wee bit too al dante for me. However, there was ample sauce, the chicken was grilled just right and the portion size left you satisfied. For desert we tried the Goat Cheesecake and WOW! that was so delicious... I recommend sharing it as it does become very rich very quickly. But the smooth creamy goat cheese makes that dessert stand out! This is a great little place to go if you have time on your hands. The food takes a while and comes out one dish at a time as they are ready in the kitchen. The server did warn us about that... so your table could all be eating at slightly different times. Overall, this place was pretty fantastic. Good location, great food & nice atmosphere.

My favorite restaurant in San Diego by far. The overall aesthetic of the restaurant was very pleasing. The antiques that they incorporated into the overall experience was a very unique touch. I find it ironic that they were playing music from artists such as Weezer, nirvana- they played 3 red hot chili pepper songs. You'd expect a restaurant of this quality to play jazz and whatnot. I'm not complaining though- it certainly added to my experience. Our server was very friendly. Everything came out in a quick fashion. The food was incredible. There is truly no way to put it into words. If you're in little Italy, this is a wonderful spot to grab a quick bite and chat.

I wish I had gotten more pictures of the food, but it all looked so delicious that we dug in before photo ops! Highly recommend eating here for brunch, the menu is super fun and creative. The build-your-own Bloody Mary and Mimosa bar have tons of options, so you'll never get bored.

Nice place for a family meal. We came with 12 guests and the server did a great job attending to such a large group. The food was pretty good. I Didn’t think the food was memorable, but also nothing to really complain about. Everyone seemed pleased but I don’t think anyone will go home and tell their friends “you gotta try Davanti”. No easy parking and no valet service. It’s a popular area, so just find a garage and fork out the coin. If you find nearby street parking, you should also buy a lottery ticket!

I ate here with a large group of 8, and we were immediately seated. Our server was very nice and quick to help. We ordered foccaccia for the table and it was delicious! I ordered the rigatoni with chicken, and it was very flavorful.

This place is amazing! We ordered bruschetta, meatballs, zucchini pizza and cacio e pepe from the happy hours menu and all of them were perfect! With cozy outdoor seating and friendly staff you should try here!

Outstanding food and service. Definitely going back to try other dishes.

Sat down for the happy hour specials. Great deal and really good food. Service was pleasant and cheerful but really quite slow. The Cacio é Pepe was VERY good, as were the artichokes. The meatballs were okay but the tomato sauce they were served in was simple but excellent. The outdoor patio was also very nice as we watched the people pass by.

Went to check out a new place for lunch, and was very impressed with the quality of their service. They had a great selection for the lunchtime specials, with great prices, and a variety of delicacies to choose from. It was not too crowded and had plenty of space for big groups or smaller gatherings. The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly.

Upon my arrival at this lovely spot in Little Italy, I discovered they were having a happy hour in the evening. The pizza was exceptionally tasty, and they even offered me samples of their cocktail mixers before I could order. The overall vibe of the place was truly amazing. Despite the super crowded bar with a full counter, the staff helped me with charging my phone, knowing I was travelling.

Davanti Enoteca is a charming restaurant known for its inviting outdoor dining experience. The al fresco area is adorned with string lights and cozy seating arrangements, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Guests can enjoy their meals in the open air, surrounded by a pleasant ambiance. One of the standout dishes at Davanti Enoteca is the renowned Davanti Burger. This delectable creation features a medley of flavors that come together in perfect harmony. The juicy patty is complemented by a rich bacon jam, adding a sweet and smoky depth to the burger. Roasted tomatoes lend a burst of freshness, while the cheese curd provides a delightful touch of creaminess. A bed of peppery arugula offers a contrasting crunch, and the roasted garlic aioli imparts a zesty kick. To complete the experience, the Davanti Burger is served with a side of parmesan fries, which are crispy, golden, and generously sprinkled with savory parmesan cheese. This culinary masterpiece is a testament to the thoughtful combination of ingredients, resulting in a burger that's sure to tantalize taste buds and leave a lasting impression on diners at Davanti Enoteca.

Absolutely amazing experience - we visited for the first night of our honeymoon and we were blown away away by the amazing service and atmosphere. The staff was very attentive and made recommendations on best dishes to order. Food came out very quickly and the old-fashioned was surprisingly strong. We really enjoyed the appetizers we ordered. The beets exceeded my expectations and came with this amazing crunchy, nutty, slightly sweet sauce. Also highly recommend the steak as the chimichurri sauce and oyster mushrooms are delicious. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the San Diego area!

I ordered take out and tried the following dishes…The gnocchi bolognese had amazing flavor, probably the best I’ve ever had. The rigatoni alla vodka tasted good but nothing too special. I wouldn’t reccomend the Cacio E Pepe as it tasted like nothing. I will be back for the gnocchi!

The food and atmosphere was great. Unexpectedly we made it in time for happy hour, and they had numerous choices on there for a great price. I had two different drinks and both were tasty.

We selected this restaurant by chance. The server Leo was very courticious and patient with us. We decided based on out several advice to start with the flat breaf with cheese and we chose also the fish and the beef steak. The Flatbread was a hit, the fish was delicious and cooked perfectly and the steak was tender and cooked medium rare as I like it. All sides were delicious and all portions were generous. Definitely you should try it

Brunch is always amazing here. Espresso martini is perfect, 12 bucks and actually made with espresso unlike 90% of the espresso martinis out there these days. Michael gave great service. The Ricotta pancakes and the pork belly hash are perfect dishes, go here over anywhere else on India St

Enticed to view the backyard seating and the menu by the gentleman out front (owner?). The ambience was lovely, the wait staff friendly but not intrusive, and the food AMAZING. Best meal I’ve had in a long time when dining out. The portion sizes seem a bit small for the prices (although most restaurants give you way too much food anyway, and I’ve seen far less food for double the price at other nice establishments), but the food definitely is worth it. We ordered an appetizer (polenta and ragu), the ravioli entrée, and two desserts: chocolate hazelnut cake and caramel something-or-other. Delicious. We were warned ahead of time that it’s best to share each serving (we did) because food is cooked fresh to order and they don’t keep it warm but rather serve it when it’s ready. That means that your meal might come before your companion’s, or your entrée before your appetizer. Keep that in mind when ordering. Would definitely recommend, and certainly will return.

The food was good. I had a burger and fries and I tasted a friends pizza. The service was on point. The waitress made good recommendations and knew a lot about the offerings. I ordered an old fashioned - it was different than what I am use to but still good. The only reason it gets a 4 and not a 5 is because the seating is out doors so they have no control over the environment like the huge palmetto roach crawling down the wall.

Davanti Enoteca is by far one of the best restaurants in little Italy. We have been going there as a family for many years and are always introducing family and friends to the restaurant. Everything is great from their house special raviolis, puff pastry with cheese and honey comb , the filet, and of course the pork Ragu. That is just to name a few!!! Highly recommend going to this restaurant!!

It was an odd experience to say the least, but overall pleasant. There was no complimentary bread and olive oil offered. My husband's and my food arrived at two seperate times, which from reading other reviews was normal. So as I was eating my food my husband sat there awkwardly watching me. My biggest complaint was that our food was not seasoned; it was incredibly bland. I was shocked because this was supposed to be a finer dining establishment. I ordered the Bolognese and it tasted like a basic tomato sauce with ground beef stirred in. My husband ordered the black pepper pasta with chicken. Even though it was nice and creamy, it was still bland and the chicken was simply grilled chicken. If they used salt at least the food would have been elevated somewhat. There were no salt and pepper shakers on the table either; which should have signaled well seasoned food. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was good. Overall though, I would not recommend and would encourage to spend money elsewhere. There are plenty of Italian restaurants in Little Italy to choose from, and an English pub of all things.

In Little Italy my go-to restaurant is D'Avanti Enoteca, never disappointing. Had a wonderful brunch out on the back patio yesterday with dear friends from LA. Service was great, food was delicious and perfectly prepared. Also their Aperol Spritz is fabulous even though we didn't have one this time.

Went in for lunch and ordered off the lunch menu. Was very surprised to receive as much food as we did. More dinner size portions. On top of it all the food was amazing! Service was great! Thanks guys!

The food was very delicious and the service was excellent. However, the portions were a little small. If it wasn’t for the portion size, I would’ve given 5 stars.

We love this place. It is our "go-to" restaurant, because the food is always amazing, and the ambience is wonderful. Intimate but roomy, funky but clearly Italian, good music, great bar. The warm foccacia with ricotta, topped with fresh homeycomb is life changing.

Amazing food and our server, Dustin, made it a very enjoyable dining experience. Truffle egg toast is mandatory and the Davanti Burger was insanely good.

Fantastic! Some of the best Italian food I’ve had outside of Italy! Mario takes pride in everything he does! What a treasure this place is!

We were walking through Little Italy and we're passing Davanti. The host hollers at us," hey, come here. You are going to love this." We followed him inside not knowing what he was doing, and he showed us their outside dining area. Very nice. We both loved it. So we decided to sit and eat. The bartender manager talked with us for a bit. He was very nice and professional. Food was excellent. Desert is a little overpriced. Overall, I'd recommend Davanti to my friends or family.

Favorite restaurant in downtown San Diego. Foccia de Recco, it's the ultimate experience. Everything is so delicious and the best waitstaff anywhere.
