Delicious. Fast, clean and friendly service. Salsa tastes great but it's spicy. Taco we're delicious, fajitas we're yummy and strawberry Margaritas we're really good and strong too.

This place has been my personal favorite for Mexican cuisine for nearly my entire life, since I lived in San Antonio as a youngster! I try to eat here whenever I'm in town for a visit. The food doesn't disappoint! The ambiance is so relaxing and fun (although I do miss the McCaws). So much outdoor seating with great plants and fountains! Very good margaritas, too!

Drinks were great, slightly overpriced, but mostly worth it. Nothing too special about the food. Standard Mexican/Tex-Mex with nothing that stood out. The waitress was awesome, she helped the experience better. Even though she had a party table of 20ish people, we didn't feel neglected. We never saw the manager make any rounds and the hostess was lacking in knowledge of the restaurant, both the history ND the running efficiency of checking in to being seated.

La Fogata is one of the better Tex-Mex restaurants that leans slightly Mex. Their menu is full at solid attempts at more traditional Mexican dishes like cochinita pibil or pozole. I think you'll find that while many dishes here are pretty good, none are great. It's a great atmosphere and will be a good time, but don't expect to go rushing back for more - maybe just once every couple of months. Stick to the stews or enchiladas when you visit.

My drink was too pretty to drink! We went to celebrate my nephew's graduation. The service was excellent.. Our waitress kept a smile on her face, even though she may have been overwhelmed. The food and drinks were amazing! Great food, drinks and service!

This place is a staple for San Antonio mexican cuisine. It's got a few dishes that are higher priced than SA's normal Mexican restaurant. However the ambiance, food, and service make it the perfect place to bring clients and other out of town visitors versus the downtown eateries.
I've never had a bad dish when coming here.
I recommend getting the "queso flameado" as an appetizer (for 2-4 people) - it's under the Quesadillas section.

Cool atmosphere and covered outdoor patio was nice with hr cooler weather. Multi colored chips where hearty, tasy salda was typically smooth, margarita was tasty with better tequila.
The tacos agachados was outstanding. Tender, seasoned steak, melted constantly cheese, a center by peppers, onion and cilantro all in a soft corn tortilla. Yes please.

Customer service from hostess was so awful it was hard to enjoy my time there. The waiter was good though and mariachis were great and really made the experience better. Food was absolutely delicious. Margaritas were perfect! Waited around 30 minutes after dinner for the "birthday cake" they forgot even though I told them before and during the meal...so had to go and remind them again after the meal waited 30minutes nothing happened and had to remind then again....so that kinda sucked
