I came to the food court here thinking I was going to see the typical asian fare with some burger places thrown in. What I found was a jem in more ways than one. Humn (and I do hope I'm spelling that correctly) the chef and yes he is a chef, is from Iran and was very friendly with a welcoming smile and an open heart. He loves the food he makes and is very proud of it. He has good reason too be so proud the food was very tasty, rich in it's own flavors with the hints of Middle Eastern spices all of which lend to a blend that gave the food a unique flavor. He insisted I taste many of his favorite salads. His tomato, onion and cucumber salad is so good, it's got his own dressing but that only enhances the favors of the tomatoes to be a complement and the cucumbers are the main ingredient while the onion supports the whole thing. He put together a lamb and chicken kabob, more than I could eat alone. This is a dish to share. The dish came with jasime rice and something I've not tasted in rice but made it so good, he put on a spicy gravy (at my request) and had a tabolle and this salad on the sides. OMG, it was a taste treat. First of all if you have this thing about lamb, get over it. Once you taste it, burgers are going to be nothing but a fatty mess. The lamb was cooked to perfection. Very tender, flame broiled in front of you. Yes, they brought out the uncooked lamb on the kabob in front of me. So it wasn't frozen or pre cooked. But the chicken, the chicken, you have never tasted chicken like this. I've eaten chicken at a lot of places. There is a Japan mix of Asian American goog about two doors down that serves a bourbon chicken you can get at the BBQ place right next to him and if you were to blind taste test, you couldn't tell them apart. But the chicken here at Kabob House was a flavor I never thought chicken could taste like. It actually made it fun to eat chicken. You know you're eating chicken but when you taste the flavors that flood your mouth with all those spices that aren't heavy but perfection blended by an artisan a chef. You know you're eating something only cooked for the gods. Humn only added to the distinct flavors with his smile and his offering to help you in any way. He is truly a gentleman and a friend. I am glad I stopped by the food court. This is really a jem. If you get the chance go up and do something out of the ordinary and order something from Kabab house. Do it now before he opens his own restaurant and it costs you more. Same good food. Oh and let me not forget the tea. I wanted water. But he wanted to have me try his new tea blend. I have to tell you, I was at a winery in Driftwood today and happen to meet a nice retired couple who travels all over the place and are both foodies. They told me of this tea from India with all these spices and how good it was. I drank this tea Humn made, I felt I had some how traveled in some strange time warp where I was drinking the same tea they described. Go to eat but go to eat good food. I recommend Kabab House and the service makes you feel like a person. Thank you my friend Humn, and please if I'm spelling your name wrong you can scold me the next time I come to eat. Frank Kenisky
