Got some dinner here with my friends. The atmosphere was very nice and the food was even better. Everything was very flavorful and seasoned well. The service was very good as well. Definitely recommend this spot

I had dinner with my family (part of 6) on Friday night and we had an outstanding experience. The wait was a little long as one would expect on a Friday night but the experience was worth the wait. I would when waited twice as long if necessary. Once we were sorted the service was extremely fast. Our server(s) were friendly and patient as we asked for omission on certain menu items due to my kids allergies and preferences. The order came out exactly how we ordered them. The food was delicious. The price is fair and the overall experience was outstanding. Everyone in our party came out happy, and that is not an easy thing to do. This is a destination while visiting SLC. Would be going again as soon as I can. Well done!

This is a super fun, hip place downtown. Parking was terrible but they had a parking attendant outside managing it. Maybe take an Uber if you have the option. On a Friday night at 5:30 the waiting area was already packed. I just saw you can make a reservation, so consider doing that. Even so, they got our party in fairly quickly, maybe within 20 minutes. One of the people in our party recommended it as authentic Mexican, it was more authentic than I’m used to, and it was so yummy! I realize the name refers to it being HOT- and that is no joke! Some of us have pretty bland tastebuds, I wish they would have given us an option for hot or mild salsa, because the appetizer salsa was too hot for some of us. And even in the entrees it would be nice to pick a spicy level, because what is almost too hot for me is probably not enough spice for a lot of people. Everyone loved what they got- carne asada, carnitas, shrimp, and adult beverages. Highly recommend!

Decided to go to this place after a long day of work and hiking! Took 35 min to get in but we had a fabulous time and the food was phenomenal! The margaritas and flan were really great! 10/10 would recommend any day of the week!

Awesome service here. Classic Mexican food that is such a value price. I can't remember the last time I went to a restaurant and my meal was only $10! Will definitely be coming back. I got the pollo tostada and enjoyed it a lot. Good flavor, not too salty. Only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table for 2 at 8pm on a Saturday night.

Absolutely one of the top Mexican restaurants I've been to! The food was spot on and the service was great. We had the Mocajette, the Parrillada and the A LA Diabla with the Chiltepin Sauce. The steak, chicken and shrimp were all grilled to perfection. The biggest surprise for me was the Toritos Appetizer. Roasted yellow peppers stuffed with Jack cheese and shrimp. It also had a savory sauce that was like a Worcestershire / Soy combo. Not sure, but it is delicious! This place is a 'Must Go' if you're in Salt Lake City! I know I'll be back there.

Great Mexican food. The food is good, but the chicken needed a little bit more flavor. The staff is friendly, and you can park for free behind the building. The place looks nice and clean, and it’s spacious for big groups.

We recently had our office Christmas Party here. We could not be seated until our entire party arrived. This is typical for most restaurants but to wait for 20 people to arrive together is nearly impossible. We could have been seated, had drinks, made the server a bit more money. We asked twice to be seated, half of us were there so they seated us. The server was quick getting our orders and drinks. The food came out quick. It was better than I had anticipated. Authenticity was spot on. Portion sizes were big, you could share a plate. Draw back is it is a really loud establishment, hard to hear your neighbor.I will return to this restaurant.

While the food was enjoyable, there were a few areas that could use some improvement. Firstly, parking at Chile-Tepin can be quite challenging. The lot is often crowded, and it's common to see cars triple-parked, making it difficult to find a spot. Keep this in mind and allow extra time for parking. Go before 5 pm. I had made a reservation for a group, and despite noticing many empty tables in the dining room about 15 minutes before our reservation, we were not invited to be seated until the rest of our party arrived. This was a bit strange and seemed unnecessary since there was ample space available. While waiting for our group, I was looking forward to enjoying margaritas. Sadly, we were informed that we couldn't be seated until everyone had arrived. This was disappointing, as it would have been nice to relax and sip on margaritas while waiting. We ended up walking around outside and sitting in our car. On the positive side, the food at Chile-Tepin was good. I particularly enjoyed the flavors and quality of the dishes. The menu offered a variety of options that pleased everyone in our group. However, towards the end of our meal, we felt rushed out, which affected our experience while trying to catch up with old friends. It would have been nice to have more time to enjoy our meal and in the company of our friends. Another small issue we encountered was the lack of a changing table in the restroom. This posed a challenge for one of our friends who had a small baby. Not having a proper facility meant she had to find an alternative way to change her baby, which added unnecessary stress and extended our stay. In conclusion, Chile-Tepin offers good food, but there are a few areas that could use improvement. The handling of reservations could be more accommodating, and it would be nice if they allowed guests to be seated while waiting for the rest of their party. Additionally, providing a changing table in the restroom would be beneficial for families with young children. Despite these issues, the flavors and quality of the food make Chile-Tepin worth considering for a meal. Another note - there are only stairs to enter. This will pose a challenge to anyone with mobility issues.

Great food! I was very surprised how good it was. We Ordered the dinner for 2 with tons of stuff on a wood plater. Steak was awesome! Perfect Med-rare. Shrimp was delicious and too. Just all around great experience..
