Only open 2 nights a week, so check. Busy place, seating is first come, but it works. friendly efficient staff. Order at back counter with a brief wait for food to be cooked. Quality and varied German beer selection. The market has great German sweets.

Siegfried's Delicatessen is a cafeteria-style German restaurant in downtown SLC. They also have imported groceries, breads, meats, and candies. The restaurant is casual but often frequented by the business crown during weekday lunches because of its location. They have indoor and outdoor seating (during the summer months). Be aware there’s more open indoor seating behind the imported food shelves in a back room. Since it’s not visible from the main dining area most people don’t know about it and you can find it empty even on a moderately busy day. Be aware the restaurant doesn’t take reservations. This venue is better suited to smaller groups. They have a number of sides for the cafeteria/deli-style meals. My favorites include rot kohl (red cabbage); sauerkraut; and fried potatoes. Siegfried's is a classic for German cuisine. My family is German and we make it a point to go each time we visit SLC. It’s casual, quick, and inexpensive. Four entrees (that came with two sides apiece) were $45 overall. Go check it out!

I have lived in SLC for all my life and knew of the shop but have never been here. WHAT IN THE WORKD WAS I THINKING. It is small and charming and very crowded on this Christmas Eve but is is worth the wait. Take your time and enjoy the stay. Another thing is that the store needs to be larger but I think it would totally wreck the charm. Please don’t change anything. Another thing is that the patrons were casual and unhurried despite the crowded nature. It was the lunch service. We had sandwiches, Spetzler, red, cabbage, sausages, and an incredibly delicious marzipan cake. The only downsides were that by sausage was overcooked and dry, and red cabbage was a bit on the cold side. Keep up the good work and come visit a SLC landmark

I had to walk 30 minutes to get there, and there were 50 people in line to order. But, it was totally worth it. I ordered weinersnizel, with a side of Coleslaw. I ordered a Reuben for my wife to go. I have never had better Coleslaw. The food was great. The prices are even better. I hadn't been there since the 80's, but dang, it's great food.

Despite being someone of German ancestry, I never had much of an opportunity to enjoy some German dishes outside of maybe a few dishes my folks made or perhaps a place like Oberle's in Ste. Gen, MO who sell bockwurst and other German sausages. So when I moved out to the Wasatch Front, I was surprised to find a German delicatessen right in the heart of Salt Lake City that also had some good opinions from my coworkers. So, I have made my way to Siegfried's and checked out their fare. All three times I have been there, I have not been disappointed. They don't have an exhaustive menu, but what they have are some of the heavy-hitters for German fare. German sausages? Check. Weinerschnitzel? Check. Cold cuts? Definitely - also very well priced too if you can make your way here or happen to work in Downtown SLC. The first time I was there, I had the weinerschnitzel, my second time I had Bavarian Leberkaese (basically a type of meatloaf) and my most recent visit I had the sausage plate (knackwurst and weisswurst). Most of their plates have a choice of two sides; hot and cold potato salad, fried potatoes, spätzle, and sauerkraut to name a few. They also do deli sandwiches as well with a choice of the normal suspects. All three of the entrees I have were very enjoyable. All are nice and fresh when you are served from the counter, the sides are just right and the sauerkraut (which can be a very acquired taste) isn't that overpowering and has a good flavor to it. The weinerschintzel is nice and crispy and the gravy from the spätzle goes pretty good with the cutlet as well. They also have some beer available with their lunch as well as goulash and a little crossover from other areas of Central Europe as well. Definitely don't forget to order dessert as they have some really good cakes and pies and strudel. The Black Forest cake is really good; nice and moist and worth the $5 a slice. Even with that dessert, the best thing about Siegfried's is it's price. You can have an entree, sides, fountain drink and dessert right around $20 ($15 if you don't order dessert). I don't think you can beat the price for what I consider as really good food. The atmosphere is very much like a German delicatessen and during lunch, Siegfried's does see a lot of foot traffic but the wait isn't long. There's also plenty of seating as well. That isn't the entire story of Siegfried's though. They are also a German market alongside their delicatessen. They have a nice mix of specialties from Deutschland and Central Europe. Those sausages you ate? You can buy some to take home with you from the meat counter. They also have German chocolates and other sweets in their market and mixes such as currywurst and goulash and spätzle. My only nitpick though...no bockwurst. I don't expect an exhaustive list of all the goodies from overseas that you could get. When I ask, they asked if I wanted knackwurst. But that's just a nitpick rather than a hard criticism. One nice thing for a business in Downtown SLC...free parking in the garage next door to Siegfried's. This makes it a breeze to visit for lunch and a few quick grabs at their market and it's within the first hour. If you want a taste of the German delicatessen atmosphere, Siegfried's is definitely a great experience.

Went here for lunch. It was crowded, but the food was good and the value was great. The desserts were very yummy - don't forget to order one. Really liked looking over the other products they provide. Look forward to coming back to try they bratwurst and sauerkraut!

Love this place! The food is amazing! Kids were apprehensive but then really liked things. It was fun to introduce them to new foods. We also had fun getting some candy that’s different than normal and I always get some awesome fermented veggies. I go here a lot and love it but I’m excited to take the whole family back again! Also the workers there are awesome!

It was quick, reasonably priced (rather inexpensive by today's standards), and very tasty 😋 Pork schnitzel with bratwurst combo, sauerkraut and potatoes on a side. We got good coffee too. Would definitely come again once in the area.

I absolutely enjoyed every single dish that I tried at Siegfried's. Meats were cooked to perfection and very tasty without any weird factory aftertaste. In fact, it tasted just like home-made food. I loved it. And service was very fast. It is not really a restaurant (or it does not feel like one in a traditional sense) but rather a deli but I don't care. Best food I ate out in a long time.
