Improving. Macleay Country Inn has had a bit of a bad run in the past couple of years. Spotty service and mediocre food have been the norm. However, the past 3 times I've been there it has definitely improved. The food is good. The portions are great and the service has greatly improved.

They tend to do a lot of Groupons so watch for them to get a better deal.

It's not fancy. But the sandwiches and burgers are really good. They have an excellent Reuben!

I was there a few days ago with a friend and had the Patty Melt. It was quite good. The Fries are the batter coated variety and are really tasty. The service was attentive and friendly.

I'm glad they've turned things around.

Very good food.. Came here again because we had a Groupon. My mother again got the Ribs and enjoyed them immensely. My sister ordered the English Dip and said it was just as good as it was the last time. My father tried the Country Fried Steak and really enjoyed it. This time I decided to get the El Ranchero which is basically a Chili burger. They take about a half pound of ground beef put it on two buns and the smother the entire plate in Chili.

The place was very busy when we came by and because of that the service was a bit slower because the servers were running around like crazy. Even as busy as they were we didn't have to wait long to get our food or anything. I give huge props to the servers who worked their buns off.

Not bad.... Ate here on 6/15/12 with the wife. It was better than we expected. Was pretty crowded and the service was a tad slow, but our waitress was nice. Food was good and the portions were fair. Will come back.

We (a group of 30), had an amazing young lady as a waitress. She was joyful inspite of handling this group alone. The food was hot and tasty. I'm diabetic and had a drop; she made sure I got some OJ. I would go back in a minute.

Best French Dip Sandwich that I have ever had. It is huge and is easily two meals for me with the side dish. Made with primr rib but is only served on certain days as their special of the day.

Hadn't been in awhile but just as good as I remembered. Friendly waitress with great service. The steaks were cooked perfectly. Will have to go back more often.

I have always loved this place out in the country. They have been around forever and just open back up recently. They survived the shutdown and are back serving great food. I had the big Ruben sandwich. Lots of meat and Sauerkrat. They also have a general store next door. Even an old time gas pump from the 1920s or 1930s. Check them out if in the general Salem, Silverton or Stayton area.
