Alta Calle

This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. This is placed is owned by two incredible Mexican women. The food is phenomenal and above all, authentic; there is flavor in every. single. bite. So many vegetarian options that can be made vegan by request. The guacamole and street corn are a must-try. Drinks are delicious - the margaritas are handmade. Very clean, welcoming environment with both indoor and outdoor seating. My official favorite Mexican restaurant in St. Louis. If you’re looking for a small business to support-especially during COVID-Alta Calle is it. My husband and I felt safe dining-in here. All safety precautions were in place, including social distancing and mask-wearing by staff.

Alta Calle, high quality, gourmet Mexican! The “queso and “guacamole” were the best we’ve had! Holy flavor combinations! We absolutely adored the shrimp tacos, fried cheese layered in... perfectly fried fish tacos were extraordinary and the Flaca margarita and mezcal martini divine! The almond cake 🤩

Spotlight today on some of the best Mexican in StL. Not "super traditional " but soooooo tasty. The place is beautiful! Gorgeous murals, nice atmosphere, great service. Some of the best salsa I've ever had! I did the tacos. Which consists of 4 different ones. The only one I wasn't absolutely mad about was the tofu. 🤷‍♀️ I cant wait to go back and experience the rest of the menu.

We’ve been wanting to check out Alta Calle for a while now. Finally stopped in earlier this week and have already been back twice. The atmosphere is cheerful and warm and the drinks are delicious. THE FOOD. The freakin’ food is heavenly. Even the salsas have layers of robust flavor; we were tempted at times to drink it. No stale chips here either. The rice and beans are simple yet delicious and the tacos are expertly balanced with the proteins cooked perfectly. One of our new favorite places.

I like any place with a good paloma but it's even better when they also make a good margarita and that salt foam....prime. Take a lactaid if you have to cause you need to order the cheese dip. I don't mean for the table, everyone should have their own personal cheese, it's that good. The black bean hummus is a sleeper hit, spiced almost like taco meat I would be content with that and some warm tortillas. Service is great, very attentive to drink levels and recommendations on shareable sides. Highly recommend, I'll be back for more of that delicious cheese and the other half of the menu.
