I have been here twice in two days -- that may be a clue as to just how much I love Soup Dumplings STL! These small, perfect pillows of deliciousness are simply divine.
Although I had eaten soup dumplings once before, it had been awhile. When the woman who took my order brought the steamer to me, she asked if I knew how best to eat them. I thought I did, but after the first one she kindly offered to show me the best way (so you don't lose the delicious broth hidden inside each fragile orb). The lunch rush was over, so she gave me all the attention I could have wanted.
I've tried the pork, chicken, and crab & pork dumplings. All were delicious, with subtly different flavor profiles highlighted in each dish. The accompanying bowl of broth is warms the soul, rounding out the comforting and completely satisfying meal.
I love this place! The soup dumplings are amazing. With each bite I am transported back to Shanghai! The dumpling skins are delicate. Use your chopstick to poke a small opening and and release the delicious broth into your spoon.The chicken dumplings seemed to have a faint scent of truffles, the crab roe and pork are classic, the pork is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful and will provide assistance if you're unfamiliar with the process.
Great cozy little place with fantastic food. Soup dumplings have wonderfully thin skins and amazing broth. Pork and shrimp wontons had a bit more ginger than I would have preferred but were of excellent quality. The cucumber salad was light and refreshing.
Definitely worth a visit!
Consider the bowl of what looks like water. Surprisingly it's actually a bowl of chicken consommé, what the French call a clear soup. It is the most wonderfully delicious tasting chicken soup I have ever tasted from anywhere. They make their soup dumplings fresh to order and their wontons are also some other kind of wonderful. As can be expected, it's the little things they do, these simple acts of refinement that make all the difference. The dumplings were fantastic—I tried the chicken, pork and beef. I also had the pork and rice and thought it was good. I will caution you, stay I had about 7 my stomach was not feeling so good.
Soup dumplings were wonderful! Beef had more soup inside, but pork tasted better in my opinion. Both excellent, came out so fast too. Only warning: be conservative with your chili oil usage or your mouth will burn for a few seconds 😅
The beef and pork soup dumplings are excellent, the crab was good but not my favorite texture. There is usually a wait but it's worth it, it's a popular place so arrive a bit early if you plan on dining inside. The chili oil and vinegar toppings are awesome as well.
Authentic, fresh, and can see them making the dumplings by hand. Unique experience with a nice atmosphere. The lady who took our order was incredibly generous and accommodating to my little ones without me even asking. There’s a huge picture on that wall that tells you how to correctly eat the dumplings. The cucumber salad was fresh and a great side to the dumplings. Surprisingly, my 4yo ate half of my dumplings, which I didn’t expect and left me hungry for more.
Food-
The food overall was fantastic! The dumplings were being made in the back when we walked in. To see the attention to detail and precision in this process was amazing. The texture of the dumplings was soft and held together well. Inside was the broth and filling which was flavorful and delicious. Now the braised pork was full of flavor and had a soft-melt in your mouth texture. The sauce that it is braised in complements the fresh rice as well. Overall, this food was amazing and for the price it is more than worth it!
Atmosphere-
The restaurant itself is nice and clean. Sadly, it lacks the space to sit down. This place can get pretty busy when it comes to lunch and there are not enough seats to sit down. That would be the only drawback that I would say about this resturant. The staff is extremely friendly!
INCREDIBLE dumplings at this spot!! The broth inside the dumpling is so full of flavor and the meat filling is very tasty. The hot chili sauce they have on the tables is no joke. My lips are still burning and I love it. There aren’t a ton of tables so you might have to wait a minute to sit down but it’s worth it. The pork and crab dumplings were worth the extra few dollars. The fresh soup was also fantastic. Do not wait to try this place!
Well made dumplings, for a first timer, I am impressed with the way they tasted. Very, very delicious. All dumplings are made to perfection and I will definitely be making a visit to go again.
The place is a bit small, so when it gets busy the place gets crowded quickly, so if you want your dumplings and a place to sit, I would go at a time where it’s a bit slower.

10/10 though, highly recommend trying this place, I had the chicken dumplings.
Very busy, but fairly quick once you order :-) Never had soup dumplings before, and we loved them. Very good, and will be back soon to try more. We tried beef and also pork, loved the pork over the beef if had to chose.
