I’m from out of town, staying in the Dogtown neighborhood and stumbled upon this place. I’m vegetarian and was surprised they had multiple meatless bbq options on their menu. I ordered the smoked seitan. It was the best meat substitute I’ve ever had! Multiple sauce options on the side, delicious vegetarian bbq baked beans, prompt and friendly service at the bar. I will definitely return when I’m back in town.
Great place! Wonderful business partners committed to the Dogtown neighborhood. And they make great beer! But the best kept secret: amazing vegetarian food! Seitan and tofu BBQ and the best vegetarian Reuben in the history of human history.
I’ve only had their “Love Gun” beer. It’s a vanilla cream ale that has a heavy vanilla flavor with a beer undertone. I like sweeter drinks and hate the sharp, back-of-the-throat flavor of other highly rated beers. If you do too, this is your ale. 10/10 would recommend and drink frequently!
Great place for unique beers. They have a huge selection of house made draft beers. Lot of people sleep on their food but it is very good as well. Try the Rueben, it will not disappoint. They also have an amazing patio when the weather is nice.
Took advantage of the flight offering to sample a few varieties. The beers were all tasty. Ordered the soft pretzels with beer cheese dip. They were more like wheat breadsticks, but soft and dense — great vehicle for the beer cheese dip. Healthy crowd for a Monday afternoon. Picked up some merch too. We’ll be back.
I have loved Heavy Riff beer for years and wanted to love their location just as much. However, for a place called Heavy Riff, I was expecting heavy metal and a rock music vibe. Instead it was laid back music with a different feel than I was expecting.
Food was wonderful, beer is amazing, and the staff was great.
Set up was clumsy, directed to bar first for drinks told to go to table to get a number than come back to bar to order food. Felt like a lot of back and forth/double paying. Drinks were good, slightly warmer than would like for beer. Food was good but not impressive, generic flavors.
Delicious smoked turkey! We had the turkey nachos and the turkey salad, and both were great. The gin barrel aged gose was lovely.
Loved it here! Every beer was excellent, really great vibe and design. My favorite in the STL area!
Hands down my favorite brewery in St. Louis. I wish I was closer! Stopped in for a drink on the patio and to stock up on Happy Jack while it's in season.
I absolutely love this brewery. I never have any issues finding something I like with the 31 different taps. Everyone is always friendly and I love that each beer is named after a song or musician.
So happy to have Heavy Riff in the neighborhood. We already loved their amazing selection and food but now that they have a nice covered outdoor area it is the perfect place to grab a drink after work.
