Sauce On The Side

We weren’t having a great night and then found this place!!! First off the hostess-waiter-guy at the front (sorry I didn’t get your name) was awesome!!! He made awesome recommendations and was so friendly!!! My husband and I ordered 4 different kinds to try and share and OMG they were all soooo good! We got the Mayflower-a thanksgiving one and it was to die for!!! If you wondering about it just get it! The fatty B and hot mother clucker were soooo good and we got a steak one, The Bulls eye, -it was sooooo good as well!!! Atmosphere was nice, quiet, and dark and relaxing after all the walking we did! We really really appreciated the best food and awesome people!!! We are saving the rest for lunch tomorrow! Also on the way back to our hotel a lady stopped and said she loves that place as well so we know it’s a local favorite! Thank you again!!!! You made are not so good night turn around!!! P.S.-when I saw this place on the maps I immediately wanted to go!!!-my husband says I always get stuff (on the side) so this is my place!!!! Not sure if there is a reference to the movie When Harry Met Sally but the name of this joint reminds me of that movie-if you haven’t seen it do yourself a favor and watch it!

Liked it so much I went three times on my trip. Everything I tried was amazing so I don’t think you can go wrong. Great place to share a calzone and a beer with someone. They also have an array of interesting never heard of sodas. They have PROVEL here if you want to try a food that is unique to Saint Louis.

The food was tasty and the service was quick. I liked the outdoor seating area. When I said I was vegan, the server offered me a "Skinny V", a vegan calzone which wasn't on the menu. It has vegan cheese, sausage, and pepperoni, with roasted garlic and green pepper. It's a bit spicy, but not excessively so.

A co-worker recommended I try this place for the sheer size of the calzones! I decided to go with the Five-0 and it was a good call. It was cooked perfectly and it was huge! The BBQ sauce on the side that came with it was a little spicy for me but that’s all a personal preference so I know now to swap it out for marinara sauce for a perfect combo for me. And as good as the calzone was - the grapefruit soda was what impressed me the most. It tasted amazing and was a perfect refresher for a summer meal on the outdoor patio. I’ll be coming back!

I had held out on trying this place because I’m not a big bread fan and calzones are a lot of bread. I will say I was pleasantly surprised. The bread portion is soft and billowy and is delicious by itself dipped in some sauce. I tried the Duke and it did not disappoint. The ratio of filling to bread was good, meaning it didn’t eat dry. Great place and I will definitely be back.
