water thankfully I had ordered a soda. Service was good can't complain ladies there were super sweet. The atmosphere there was boring, not only that it was pretty hot and stuffy really wanted a alcoholic drink with the heat I choose not too. Chips tasted weird and were harder than usual.
We had a reservation for 7:30 on a Thursday night and we still had to wait for about 30 mins to get seated. The restaurant is small so there's not that many tables and I think they're still shortstaffed. We ordered the bbq albacore, scallop wraps (so good), baby calamari (really good), otoro (perfect amount of fat and it just melts in your mouth) and at least 8 different rolls. They were all good but after awhile they all tasted similar.
One of my favourite places to go to. Owner and sushi chefs are very accommodating. My favourite roll is Chubby Andy and their spicy edamame is the best one in the area. Trust me I’ve tried most sushi in this area and this one is definitely the go-to for me.
When I arrived at 3pm, the server seated us immediately. There was only 1 server attending the restaurant so the service was kinda slow.
- Chubby Andy roll: loaded with delicious fillings (spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, unagi, crab). The size of roll was rather small and I wish that they didn’t put too much of teriyaki sauce on the sushi.
- Shrimp tempura roll: good. My kid devoured it all and loved it.
I was lucky enough to find parking right across the street from the restaurant. I believe there’s a parking lot on R street if the street parking was challenging.
This place has been one of our go-to’s for meetings with clients, friends, family, even to just decompress solo and have a delightful conversation with the staff at the bar.
The staff is top notch, a true neighborhood friend! Very educated and passionate about what they’re doing. Any questions we had, they’ve answered with such enthusiasm and excitement that it really adds to the experience.
This is a hidden gem that needs to remain hidden, because I want to keep it all to myself. In all seriousness, you have to try this place out. You will not be disappointed!
The service here is great. The staff here are attentive and will answer any questions about menu items, specials, and substitutions. The food is really good as well. The atmosphere is really cozy, but it does have the potential to get a bit loud, if you're a dine in silence kind of person. I've been here numerous times and all of my experiences here have been exemplary and this is a "go to spot" for sushi or other Japanese cuisine when needed.
chirashi Deluxe was great, fresh sashimi of chef's pick and great amount of rice😃.
Vanessa Madness is really a madness with spicy tuna and lemon apple in it. That's a crazy combination.
What a great little sushi restaurant in Midtown. Small, with some outside seating we really enjoyed. We liked everything we ordered here, and we ordered a lot! The shoshito peppers were simple but amazing, and the Red Roll... so good! Our server was very nice, I wish I had gotten her name, lol. Seriously a super sweet girl. We even stuck around for the tempura cheesecake, which was delicious.
Our food was amazing and drinks were great. The employees were very nice and polite and coming to check to make sure we didn’t need anything. Definitely would return again to enjoy some food.
Ju Hachi has been and always will be my favorite sushi spot. When chef Taka sold I was worried about quality, service and variety. I still enjoy coming here… the fish is fresh and flavorful. Items from the kitchen remain innovative and cutting edge… my love Sarah and I enjoyed date night at Ju Hachi, it was a wonderful evening…
