We missed celebrating our anniversary and this place was worth the wait...we were seated immediately and waited approx. 11 minutes for the food....
waiters kept checking in on us ....the food was out of sightttt...my family is creole so yesssss we look for the spices...and this is how we eat it!!!! You cant expect to not eat with your hands when it comes to real cajun food...I recommend anyone that wants to eat here look it up first so there is no surprise on eating with hands..it's the only way we eat cajun! I also recommend going on a slow night during the week...it's popularity makes it quite busy...just a tip. Loved loved it and can't wait to go back...thanks for making cajun that a creole family could love...and thanks for keeping it real we eat With hands especially crawdadsssss...lol!!
This location has yet to let down. My girlfriends and I go here to have a ladies late lunch since our husbands aren't seafood eaters. If you have never been here, you should know there aren't any plates or real silverware, the shrimp come whole so you have to peel them and it can get a little messy but don't worry you get a bib lol. Food comes served in plastic bags. I always get the 'whole she-bang' flavor in mild. I'm a wimp when it comes to spiciness and the mild still pack a bit of a punch, especially the left overs. Typically order the shrimp and mussels with a rice bowl and a corn cob separate from the seafood. They open at three and we try to get there as close to opening as possible. It gets sooo busy!! Getting there early ensures the best service and fastest seating. We never have a problem.
The Boiling Crab has great food. The service staff is friendly. And the food prices are fair. I would definitely recommend this place! You should try it! :)
This is a secret go to place known only to the locals. Tourists who visit Sacramento will often visit Joe’s Crab Shack at Old Sacramento but this is just as good (if not better) with a much cheaper price tag. Like both crab places, they offer you a bib and if you look down (that’s how I took the photo) you will see there is a little pocket in case things fall onto you and something drips down. A very smart invention.
Love their place! The food was really good especially 'The whole she-bang' flavour! It was fun eating with our hands and on the table. Hope they'll open stores in Canada, especially in Winnipeg.;) Will definitely come back!
My favorite family restaurant in California to eat shrimp and oysters catfish gumbo and king crab and blue crab so get there with the family and have some fun
Possibly the best crab and shrimp in town, that has a great flavor especially if you get the whole sha-bang and spicy level medium. So happy to find out about this place a year ago, it definitely is better than joes plain crab shack. Worth the wait and you will get a little messy, but that's the point of the boiling crab experience.
This place rocks. We went to The Boiling Crab this past Monday evening for the first time, and can't believe how much this place rocks. The service was great, everyone was attentive and courteous. We ordered the king crab, boiled shrimp, sausage and corn on the cob. Everything came out fast, and hot, and there was a lot of it! We were blown away by how much flavor the seafood and sausage had. And next time I am going to order a huge bag of corn on the cob to go. What a fun dining experience too, we will definitely be back soon.
Hidden gem. The food here is beyond amazing. I would have known about this place if it wasnt for a friend... as it is located in the Vietnamese section of Sacramento. Amazing price $9.99 for a pound of shrimp made to order with the option of seasoning.. but go with the whole sha-bang. I will be honest. It is geared towards the Cajun eating style food is served in plastic bags as it is messy and probably you safer that way. You are also responsible for shelling your own shrimp and crab... but 100% worth. If you are going to go during dinner time on the weekend make sure MAKE SURE you call and make reservation as there will be a wait
Large glass windows allow you to ogle diners inside ripping heads off of shrimp, tearing into crab claws, and slurping up oysters on the half shell. All the while, sauces and juices are squirting everywhere. I suggest wearing dark colors, although my buddy did manage to escape the experience in her unscathed white pants.
This review is for the TO GO order. The only downside to the order was that the phone wasn’t working so I had to go in to place the order and a few peices of the chicken wings were a bit burnt. BUT Neo helped me and was sooooooo kind. Great customer service and got my order done in a timely manner. Definitely will come again. Need more customer service like NEO. Wings that weren’t overly cooked was good despite the flaw.
Everything was yummy. All of our food came out at different times. If you are craving seafood, it is a good option. Staff was not attentive. We flagged them down for service many times.
Yummy!! I fell in love with boiling crab while in San Diego. It’s just as good here. Haven’t found another chain that does boiling seafood as well. They always have great wings. I myself usually go for shrimp, potatoes, corn and crab. This location has better customer service then the other in Sacramento. I don’t know what it is but every time I go to the other I have a bad experience. The only think I don’t like is they say you’ll get a text when good is ready but you won’t, your food will be soggy if you wait for them to text you.
Love this place. The food is delicious. The wait is long sometimes but well worth it.
The food there was AMAZING the whole sha bang bag was INCREDIBLE. The sausages were good and the potatoes, the shrimp and crawfish were amazing. Highly recommended!
Unable to eat here due to the wait. We’re told 1.5 hrs and ended up going to the crab place down the street which was great.
Great host greeted and wanted to serve. We received a notification 30 mins later that our table was ready, so we may have waited if that was accurate. Next time we are in town though!
1/2 Lb shrimp, 1/2 Lb Sausage, 2 corns, 2 ordered of potatoes (3 ea so 6 total). The whole sha-bang medium. Yum!!!
Kids had just sausage in lemon sauce with garlic butter and chicken wings/ fries. They ate everything and loved eating with their hands!
The food is good but it's expensive!!! This is 2 lbs of shrimp, 1 sausage link, 2 orders of potatoes and 2 orders of corn. Shrimp is $16 a lb, sausage is $6 a link, potatoes are $2.50 for 3 pieces and corn is $1.75 for HALF a corn!!! This is with the whole shabang seasoning. Ordered it to go and it was ready really fast. The staff is friendly. The parking lot is a nightmare but we went at 4 pm on a Thursday so there were not too many people there. You have to get the food home and open it before it over cooks in the bag. So if you live too far away, you're better off eating here.
First time here, it was fantastic! Messy and delicious at the same time. Staff was extremely friendly and happy, even though we had a 3 hour wait for a table and they were super busy ( it was Fathers Day). Definitely will he back, and often!
I am never disappointed when I have a meal at boiling crab. My mother and I went in for dinner this week and we devoured our food; we got crabber fries which are always a good appetizer, 1 lb shrimp the whole sha-bang sauce medium add corn and potatos each, one Dungeness crab with the whole sha-bang sauce medium spice and a lobster with the whole sha-bang sauce medium spice. I highly recommend this order and boiling crab in general; sadly I took a picture of the crabber fries and the end result of our meal and nothing in between..I guess until next time!
