My “brother from another mother” and I have a Xmas time tradition of going to Leatherby’s for the classic Black & Tan Ice Cream Sundae so after our annual meet up with military unit, we popped in for our treat. As usual, we were not disappointed! The atmosphere was classic old school with awesome service and a sundae that is as better and more satisfying than the fanciest dessert I have ever eaten anywhere. Rest assured, the tradition will live on! PS. If you are hungry, you can get lunch as well.
If you're looking for big ice cream at a decent price, this is definitely the place to go! Decor is a little dated, but the staff is friendly and wonderful.
Haven't tried the food yet, but would definitely go back to try again.

One of the iconic ice cream joints in Sac-town. Plenty of ice-cream varieties to choose from. They can probably seat about 100 when you account for all the tables inside and outside.
All their ice cream is made by Leatherby's. They also make and sell caramel sauce and chocolate sauce
My son wanted dessert after his promotion ceremony so we decided to go to Leatherby's. We ordered three Christina's Carmel Crazes, one Rita's Strawberry Cake, and one Jennifer's Brownie Delight. Everyone was pleased. The Caramel crazes were dripping with caramel. The brownie in the brownie delight was moist and perfect for pairing with ice cream. The strawberry cake was excellent. The strawberries were flavorful and the cake was moist.

The Original! Always excellent homemade ice cream and whipped cream and sauces and sundaes. The food is reasonably good, but somewhat overpriced for what it is. I prefer to eat elsewhere and come here for what they're famous for: dessert! My favorite sundae is on the wall in a big graphic cutout, but they took it off the menu some time ago. No idea why. It's fantastic. I don't even remember what they called it. I just point to the picture and ask for that and they still make it for me. Put it back on the menu, please! It's the one with "slices" of sherbet balanced on the rim of the glass.
Just found out that Leatherby's has a "happy hour" after 9PM for discounts on certain food and sides, and I feel like this requires me to come back so much more often.

Dope ice cream!! I will come back in a heartbeat. The ice cream was so good. I ordered raspberry sorbet and it was the perfect amount of tart and sweet. The chocolate was also very true to taste.
They have tons of flavors, service is very fast, and the decor around the place was wonderful!! There is a mini arcade in the back. There are TONS of seats so I feel like this is a great place and atmosphere to kick back and catch up with your loved ones. In fact, I'm pretty sure I saw tons of young friend groups here.
There is also the ice cream factory making part that is visible through a glass window on the right side of the building).
The only thing that didn't make sense was when I ordered the ice cream, it got passed to someone else and then we had to wait a few more minutes, but whatever. I got my ice cream eventually. They also didn't ask if I wanted my order for here or to go.
I had such a great time here. I think it's better than the other small ice cream places around Sacramento but I haven't tried them all yet. I need to go back and try more flavors!
The ice cream is so good! Loved the thin mint ice cream with big chunks of thin mint cookies! The burger was not great but not bad and the fries and onion rings are good
