Food has always been decent whenever I’ve ordered. I LOVE the banh mi here, and the pho is also pretty decent. Small staff, but great service. This place is one of my go-to places (when they’re open and I’m in the neighborhood). The cashier is also wonderful 😍🥰

A fantastic place for anything from weeknight takeout to special occasions. My partner is celiac and we love how many gluten free options Blue Taro offers! Lots of vegan options too. Don't miss the fried egg rolls and sesame balls!

Huey groks food. In full disclosure, he’s a friend, and cooks to entertain, but if you can’t find anything appealing on the menu, ask him what fresh ingredients are on hand, or what ingredients need eating before they wilt. If you like beef, try asking for beef tofu with two onion. Nearly all protein—and H₂O—tofu contains little carbohydrate. He’s thinking of adding more tofu to the menu.

i recently ordered take out to try this place, and it turned out the ordering app was accidentally still available, but the person at the restaurant made my order anyway and then gave me the extra tofu because she happened to be in the kitchen when my order came it. this was very kind when it could have just been cancelled, and the food was very good! very fresh tasting noodles, veggie dumplings and a tofu banh mi. i look forward to going back when they are actually open and more fully staffed.

Initially I wrote an unfavorable review because I ordered on UberEats and it took almost 2 hours to get here and broth for my noodles was forgotten, and then I read their reply to someone below apologizing for being understaffed. I've worked in restaurants before and I should have been more forgiving, especially in this hard time right now for everyone. We can only try our best, after all.
Well, I put in another order and did emphasize to make sure the broth was included and this time, the order was timely and I got a really nice note from the restaurant apologizing for the prior incident. The food came timely and it was delicious (it was also delicious the first time as well). I hope this serves as a gentle reminder to be more understanding about the hardships that restaurants have faced these past couple of years. I'm really happy to find yummy Vietnamese food and will continue to be a customer. Thank you!

Great food, friendly service (even if your step son isn't personal friends with owner), and great price. Vietnamese food, and really good, but the name "Blue Taro" doesn't give that away. Be sure to have the sesame ball to finish the meal. Delicious and unique.

I am sitting at the bar half way through my meal and had to stop eating to write this review. I ordered the curry chicken bases on the employees recommendation and after one bite I was hooked. It is so flavorful but still mild. I honestly don’t know that I’ve had better Asian food in Rochester and I’m someone who likes to eat out a lot. If you’re on the fence you need to go here. Everything is gluten free and they have tons of vegan options as well.

Top-notch service and very clean, well-prepared food. Rochester is still lacking in clean plant-based fair (as opposed to just vegan junk food) and also higher quality Asian food; Blue Taro was a great surprise in both categories. They offer a dedicated vegan menu, you can taste how clean the ingredients are, and the food prep is spot on. It's definitely a level above many other places in Rochester, for any type of fair. Lets get the word out about this place! 5-stars!

One of my fave restaurants in Roch. In my o the best pho in town. Ingredients -- and stock -- made from scratch and the married couple who own/run the place are both expert cooks. You can taste all the detail in the recipes. Fine dining at a very decent price.
