Review The French Quarter - Rochester

Feben M
My coworker and I were in Rochester for a work trip and someone suggested this restaurant to us, and we were so glad they did. The food was delicious, and the place is decorated super cool. They have some really nice art on the walls. The customer service was awesome too. Our waiter, Ethan, was beyond amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and loooooved the beignets we got for dessert. I wish we could have stayed longer as an R&B show was about to start but we had to leave. I’ll be back if I find myself in Rochester again. I highly recommend

The food was good. Having been to New Orleans and loving Louisiana’s food scene, I’d say the food was inspired by New Orleans for sure. It’s not exactly New Orleans style but it was all very tasty. The fried okra was delish but could have used a dipping sauce. Our Po’ Boys were great seafood sandwiches but I definitely was missing the remoulade. My daughter had the shrimp creole. It was tasty but the plate came to the table without being cleaned. It could have also used a little less sauce so you could see the shrimp. For dessert we shared a plate of beignets which were warm and delicious along with banana pudding. The banana pudding was great to have after some spicy food to cool the palate. For a drink, I had a Frenched Sweet Tea. It had just the right combination of alcohol and sweet tea. Overall we enjoyed everything and we’d definitely go back. One suggestion would be to add a QR Code of the menu on each table instead of taping a note to the drink list. They could either put tabletop QR signs or just laminate a QR code to a corner on each table.

So the menu looked good and wanted to try this place. FYI, park out back. Went on a Saturday night with party of 5. You could tell they were short staffed and wasn’t a big deal as we had time. The food was awesome as we ordered a bunch of items to sample. Personally had the crawfish boudin balls they are awesome. Also ordered the cup of gumbo and of course a po boy crawfish of course. All of the apps were great. Dinner entrees I had the signature Crawfish Fettuccini it was ok. I felt too salty. 2 of the party ordered the smothered catfish they both liked it and the other two ordered the fried shrimp. I would dine hear again. Service was slow but expected as they were short handed. My only real complaint was the chirp from the smoke detector was really annoying. The ambience makes you feel like you are in Louisiana.

The food was pretty good! Server was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu. I have feedback for this establishment. -no kids meal or kid food whatsoever? Guys, we the people have money to spend at your restaurant. I asked if they could serve my child the noodles from the fettuccini dish, except plain. They said “no”… I ended up ordering him plain bread. That is untapped profits. I’d have paid $12 for a .30 side of noodles!! -we are two years into the pandemic. There is no excuse for serving appetizers in paper bowls, ketchup packets instead of bottles, and silverware in paper bags. It’s honestly not a good look - especially in such a gorgeous ambiance. -no napkins or plates served with the beignets. No extra napkins with the chicken wings. You can just do better.

We ordered crawfish etoufee and crawfish feticini...both were absolutely delicious! The building is somewhat tucked away and not on any main roads. The old building has lots of historic features. Our service was poor, however we got the impression she may have been new and nervous. The other staff stepped in to try to help her several times. If you are looking for some authentic New Orleans food, this place is a must! We hope to go back, especially on a Wednesday night, as they also have live music.

Fantastic! I found a new favorite place to visit. I have been missing this food since going to New Orleans and now I've found it! Everything was excellent including the service and I would highly recommend it.

We ordered from Grubhub, I knew about New Orleans food but never tried it before, I'm glad I didn't wait another day. This was fantastic everything we ordered , the food was seasoned and flavorful perfectly cooked delivered hot and fresh, the sausage, chicken, rice, potatoes, pasta, salad, fresh beignets was so good I'm about to plan a trip to New Orleans

This place is amazing and everything gives off a New Orleans vibe. The artwork on the wall looks really nice also. It's a nice quiet location you can attend for for a business dinner or with family. The staff is very friendly and responsive. The food, phenomenal! I had the gumbo appetizer, fried okra and fish. The alcohol tasted really good also. The price for the food suits it very well.

I love the food here. The fried catfish smothered in crawfish ettoufe is amazing. I will say the menu, selection, and service has gone downhill a bit over the last couple years, but that's also true of many places. My biggest issue is that they often have live music upstairs, and if you're just there to dine, it's a bit loud for casual dining. But live music is awesome, so just keep that in mind.

Can't wait to return...I want to share this jewel with family and friends! Just superb! I had the fried fillet (perfect!), the dirty rice (crazy tasty...took some to go!!) and the sweet tea (well-balanced!). Of all the restaurants, this is the first one to hit the golden trifecta: excellently prepared meal (hats off to you, Chef!), budget-friendly prices (kudos to the savvy owners), and really sincere service (here's looking at you, Ariana)! Thank you, French Quarter!

The food was amazing and the atmosphere was authentic. The live band really set the ambiance. I will recommend this restaurant to everyone looking for a good, wholesome soul warming meal. The beignets were AMAZING. Nothing but good things to say and I'll certainly be returning !

The food was slappin. Absolutely, wholeheartedly delicious. The building reminded me of my time spent in NOLA and the food deff did as well. Prices are spot on and they don't skimp on the portion sizes. The drink prices are a bit higher than I'd like and hurricane wasn't NOLA but I didn't go there for drinks. I went there for good eats and some French Quarter atmosphere and this place didn't disappoint. I'll be going back often.

A wonderful surprise! The food was fresh and everything I tried was better than the last. Hidden treasure for sure. Without a doubt I will be back!

We loved the food here ! I got the fried haddock with grits and my bf got the hot chicken. It was all delicious. My bf said “it was the best fried chicken hes had in his life.” Will definitely be coming back . Also loved the house and the way it was decorated.

My friend and I were looking to try something new that night and we decided on this restaurant. It turned out to be a great decision, as we left with a whole new outlook on Cajun/Creole cuisine. The atmosphere was pleasant with jazz music overhead and New Orleans style decor all around. The server was awesome and very helpful. We split the wings for the appetizer and they were crispy and lathered in a sweet chili tasting sauce and just fantastic. Then I ordered the Red Gumbo and she the V plate with fried catfish and fettuccine with crawfish tails. Both tasted phenomenal and were very large portions. We decided to order the beignets and peach cobbler since the other food was so good, and both blew our minds, just absolutely fantastic. I would definitely come back to this establishment when I’m in the area again.

This is the first time dining here and everything was great. From the food and the service we could not have asked for more. Portions are pretty big for basic cost and well worth the price. We will be back soon

We had reservations, the restaurant wasn’t even busy. It took at least 20 minutes after our entire party was sat for them to take our drink orders. Let alone how long it took to get the drinks. When apps and salads were brought out, half of the table was finished by the time the other half got their salads. We were there to celebrate my birthday and they didn’t bring me my meal until my entire group had finished eating. I was so disgusted with the service that I didn’t even eat the damn food once it was brought. I will never go here ever again and I will be telling all my friends to never come here if they have the choice. Worst dining experience of my life.

Never disappointed. Shrimp and chicken half and half are my go-to meals, but the crayfish fettuccine is awesome, too. If you don’t like the food, you don’t like creole food. Best I’ve Had since New Orleans. Don’t skip the beignets.

We had food catered for my daughters graduation party and it was awesome. Not the typical pasta, pizza or cookout food and everyone loved it! The Mini Po'boys were gone first and the sweet potato casserole should have been on the dessert table. Thanks again FQC

Just had dinner. Now listening to a great band. Wonderful food! My husband had the red gumbo and said "best sausage I've ever had". The smothered catfish was excellent. Very reasonable prices. Will definitely come back again.

The atmosphere in this hidden gem was wonderful and our server, Ethan, gave us just the right amount of time to soak it up. The food was authentic Creole food and was outstanding.

Having lived in New Orleans for years, I am a bit skeptical of northern food that claims to be "Cajun" or "Creole". I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at French Quarter Cafe, it was like being back in NOLA again. My only critique is the music, get some upbeat NOLA jazz in there! I will definitely be back :)

Love the art work, the food was excellent. Our family enjoyed our experience so much we had a birthday party in the banquet hall upstairs, the food was served buffet style, fish was nice and hot, decorated nicely. We bought in our own music and danced and had a good time. The nice thing is u can bring your own alcoholic beverages. We will definitely visit again

I often try to support black owned business, but this one I will no longer give my money to, although the food is good the service is terrible, every time we call to take out its ALWATS 1 hour to 2 hour wait, or your told they're not doing take out orders, this is the third time this week I've attempted to get food from there, if it's not a long wait the kitchen is closed before the actual restaurant is closed. Do better French Quarter hire better kitchen staff. I won't be returning smh

Thoroughly enjoyed everything about this restaurant! Waitress was polite and attentive. Food took a little while to come out but it was well worth it! The food was hot, fresh and had awesome flavor! Will definitely be returning for another awesome experience!

It's really good. Yummy Yummy Nice artwork. I suggest buying some. Get the balls of meat and put them in your mouth. Take the meat pies put some unicorn 'sauce' on them and gobble those down too.

Went here tonight for date night after hearing rave reviews from family. Christian, our bartender, was absolutely fabulous. Prompt, chatty and attentive. The food was phenomenal and came out piping hot. We will definitely be back!
