Fortunato

First off, get the bread with ricotta then figure out what you want to order because the bread is legitimately amazing. Also get the Brussel Sprouts and dont let the "anchovy" part scare you. They were so good! The pizza was also very good and honestly the only thing we got that wasn't "bomb" was the fingerling potatoes. They were "fine" but I wouldn't recommend. My group had multiple trays of oysters and everyone really enjoyed them. We sat at the bar due to not having reservations and really enjoyed it, the bartender was great and made sure we were perfectly taken care of. FYI, they dont have flavored liquor if you are a coconut rum drinker, like myself. The entire staff was helpful and willing to make sure we enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was clean and kept and that includes thier restrooms.

Many gluten free options available. Food was phenomenal; defintiely try the olives and duck raguv😍 They also had a great selection of wine and cocktails; it's the first restaurant I have been to that served orange style wines (pictured). Service was amazing, the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about wine. We cannot wait to go back.

We went to Fortunato by chance. It was our first time in Roanoke and we had no idea where to eat. We picked up this restaurant because their menu looked different and interesting. We could not have picked a better place. The lady who took care of us, Sarah, was perfect. She was engaging, answering our questions and making suggestions when we asked. Her service was timely and not overbearing. The food was just SO delicious. We started with the bread and calamari. The calamari was the best we had ever eaten. Tender, melt in your mouth, with a very light breading and a wonderful sauce that was unexpected. The cocktails we had with the appetizers were so good, we went to thank the barmaid at the end of our meal. The Negroni was just well balanced, not too bitter. For our main dishes, we tried the Cacio e Pepe and the Duck Ragu. In each dish, the pasta was cooked to perfection. We ended with a Tiramisu, light and fluffy and not too heavy on the chocolate. This was the first time we had gone back to a restaurant since the pandemic started and we could not have had a better experience. Thank you to the entire team at Fortunato!

Overall we had a pretty good time at this place, started out a bit rocky at first (we think they forgot about our table), but it all worked out in the end. We had a couple plates of the octopus, calamari, and the chicken liver mousse. I had the brick chicken which was good as well. We were a bit stuffed for anything else and wanted to try the bar next door but called it an early night. Fun vibes and fun folks working.
