If you want a hotdog or a beef sandwich must eat here. The hotdogs are very delicious! This place has a wide variety menu and is very cheap. The place is big and very busy at times.
Never even knew about this place and glad I went. It's a super chill atmosphere, they play nothing but Hawaiian music in this place. And it's not that loud so yo can actually have a conversation with the people you go with. This would be a great place to take a date, probably not that great for a huge crowd.
There's a huge drink menu with all sorts of stuff. Chocolate drinks, mai tais, martinis, and more. Here's a menu - bit.ly/n5eYNT I went with the zombie and tried my friend's blue Hawaii. Both were great, strong but great. We even tried one of those 2 person drinks, the Volcano and that was pretty good too. Watch out though because you won't even realize how much you're drinking over here, and these drinks are gigantic too.
Service was a bit slow though, it was pretty empty inside but it still seemed like forever waiting for our drinks. It didn't bother me too much but Hala could definitely step it up in that area. I would definitely go here again for a quiet night out.
TL;DR
-Quiet Hawaiian atmosphere
-Extensive drink menu
-slow service
Fun atmosphere for tropical drinks, decor is right out of a cheesy Hawaiian movie. They do not serve food and have an extensive drink menu. Do not order the Mai Tai- it's sour & not like a typical Mai Tai. The KoKoMo was wonderfully sweet & the Zombie was great! Our waitress could have been more attentive. It was a fun experience and very unique. Drinks were fairly reasonable - 7 bucks .
Best Tiki Drinks in Chicagoland!. Easily the best place to get a quality Tiki drink in all of Chicago! Worth the trip. Keep in mind you must be 21 to enter, and no food is served save for the bowl of pretzels at your table.
Enjoy the shop too!
Drinks are AWESOME. It seems to be in a shifty location ... the area around the bar is VERY dark. The decor is hawaiian, like you're in a huge tiki hut.
I'm not sure if they serve ANY food because this was a strictly drinking destination for us. It is a GREAT date place.
The drinks are EXOTIC and VERY tasty. Try the drinks for two :-)
Our server was on top of things and made things fun for us.
We will DEFINATELY be back.

For the third and final stop of the day in our Pre-Birthday Chicago Tiki Blitz, we headed back out to the suburbs to the Hala Kahiki in River Grove. (Part one was Tiki Terrace , and Part two took us to Trader Vic's Chicago ). The bar had lots of lanterns
We had a lovely time. First the decor is incredible. This place has a classic vibe much more old school than other tiki bars in the area. That is because of that era. I loved the classic feel. Our service was excellent. Drinks were delicious but on the sweet side, which is my preference. Not a lot of options for snacks but that was clear from the website we ate before we came. What we ordered was tasty though. Absolutely worth the trip out to it. I will attempt to return next time I'm in the area.
This is one of my new favorite tropical bars. The ambience, the decor, the menu — it all evokes the same kind of feeling you read about in the books that Beachbum Berry recalls from the Golden Age of tropical bars. And unlike those in the city, there’s plenty of space and parking (plus more affordable drinks). And a huge selection, wow. Want to recreate the feeling at home? They have a gift shop, too! Love this place, can’t wait to come back!
Shauntay provided us with fantastic service. The drinks were great, the atmosphere transported us. Poke bowl was quite good. The outdoor space is delightful and...HEATED. Not just heat lamps, the have a heater blowing warm air inside! Can't wait to return and bring friends.
Hala Kahiki is easily my favorite tiki bar! It’s been around for many years but still looks timeless. It’s spacious, wonderfully decorated, nicely dim, and just has such a great atmosphere. There’s also an outdoor patio. The drinks are fairly priced and really pack a punch! They have an extensive drink menu and all the ones I’ve tried have been delicious. This place is just seriously the best and I love coming here with friends, on dates, and even work gatherings. It’s always a hit! They even have a gift shop with some really cool stuff.
An added perk about Hala Kahiki is being able to walk down the block to Gene & Jude’s after!
I rarely drink and only been to a bar 4 times in my life so far. 2 out of the 4 times were at Hala Kahiki in 2021 and both has been such a joy. For my 2nd visit in December. My buddies and I were there for 4 hours and played cards. I felt no judgement from anyone there and it was a fun time. Our server, Kaira, was so friendly and awesome!!! I remember it was her 5th night there and I hope she is still there.
The drinks tasted so good!! My favorite so far is the Lava Flow (the one with the foam). Taste like a milkshake and brightens up the soul. We also did the those fire shots (forgot the name and sadly no pictures) and was such a cool experience to drink a shot that was actually on fire!
Highly recommended this place. Chill vibe and great service. Definitely will be back soon.
I'm not even known how I missed this place and I'm just 10 minutes away.
Cozy, retro beautiful interior, friendly services, good drinks, huge bar, so much tiki cocktails, plenty of seats, inexpensive and parking on the front.
Love this place! Drinks were awesome! Go check this out. Had a group of 14 waitress did excellent job.
Great bar from way back, still has the same amazing charm and decor. Make sure to try one of the amazing fruity drinks, ours was called the volcano and it was truly delicious.
