The owner pours her heart and soul into this business; it’s quite evident in the quality of the products. I’ve seen many complain about the prices.. Fellow patrons, if you want cheap, go to the local corporate run donut shop. If you want true art, to support local and unique taste, go to the prickly hip! No, I don’t work there. I’m a huge advocate for small business and for getting what I pay for. I paid in the hundreds for a magical *custom* cake for my daughters birthday two years ago that she still talks about today! The attendees are were floored that a cake could be so pretty and taste so good. They were accustomed to pretty cakes tasting like bitter fondant. Not PH cakes! You pay more but for the quality, beauty, and taste! If you can get that at your normal run of the mill bakery, go ahead, but as for my family and I, we are 100% loyal to the PH!
Love this shop. The hostess cupcakes are my new favorite cupcake. Everything always looks great and taste even better. The staff always greets me when I walk in, and even in these times of being understaffed they always have smiles on their faces and go the extra mile.
I was delighted with the pastries here. Initially out-of-state when I stumbled across this place online, I vowed to visit it once back in the area. I had the maple bacon donut (it's to die for). My dad had the lemon blueberry PeaceTart and said that it was the best pastry he'd ever had. I have been here twice now and definitely plan on coming back. Make sure to come during a time you have a sweet tooth because the icing on the pastries can be very sweet!
I always stop by for a peace tart (some call them pop tarts) and a cute little gemstone to treat myself any time I’m in the area. On the pricier side for sure but I promise you won’t find this type of quality + taste at any other corporate run bakery!!
Asked Jenni to make a cake for my sisters baby shower and I could not have imagined a better cake! It was so pretty no one wanted to cut into it. We finally did and it was SO GOOD. Besides this beauty, I usually stop in when I'm in town to snag a few peace tarts before heading back to California and the staff are always so nice and happy. The vibes in the shop are like no other place in Mississippi.I highly recommend for any floral or bakery needs!
The Prickly Hippie did the flowers and flower crown for my wedding. I couldn't have been any happier with the results. Jenni was laid back and easy to work with in the planning process. She had such a great vision for what I described for our laid back wedding and the execution was perfect. PH was in the process of opening the store when we were planning and Jenni was still able to take time and answer questions for me. Not only are the flower and succulents great, but the coffee and sweets are something to brag on too. My favorite is the lavender latte and the stuffed cookie sandwiches. I appreciate the attention to detail PH provides in all of their products. It is a small business so that means personal service, which is totally worth it. I am one happy customer. Fabulously unique baked goods with an excellent caramel sea salt iced latte... yum! Great place to hang out and the gal working was super helpful.
