The Ancient Mariner

Low expectations. Pleasantly shocked!! This place is hidden in the strip mall behind Prime Burger. It’s hard to see from the road or even from the parking lot. The decor is old school so I wasn’t expecting much. Ordered the Marriner Burger with potato salad and guacamole and chips. The burger was huge and perfectly cooked - actual medium rare! The bun had great texture and was lightly toasted. It was served with some sort of blue cheese sauce plus bacon and tomato. I am a burger aficionado and think this burger was delicious! It is way better than I expected, coming from a unassuming looking restaurant hidden at the back of a strip mall. The potato salad and guacamole and chips were yummy too. I can’t wait to go back and sample the seafood. After all, this is billed as a “seafood restaurant”. By the way, this is worlds better than the generic “mass-produced” but fancier-looking Prime Burger place in the same strip mall. This burger is homemade and made with care. I like it almost as much as the Mark Burger at the Mark Hotel in Manhattan (which is dressed with truffle sauce). The only thing that I missed was french fries. It wasn’t one of the options I was offered. Not sure if it’s on the menu “Never judge a book by its cover” applies here.

Went there for an early lunch on Saturday order two burgers two drinks Diet Coke . I would’ve thought they use bacon they cook not a Costco microwave bacon . Two pieces only and the pickle was small not what i Expected. we started out with a male waiter we ask for two more drinks Diet Coke then he disappeared and a lady came over to our table and we ask for another refill of a Diet Coke and our check. Neither the male waiter or the female waiter said that there is a charge for refills of sodas so we were charged every refill I think they should’ve told us . It should have been up to my decision if I wanted to pay for a refill Not just go ahead and charge us .

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Ancient Mariner tonight. We knew we were running late for dinner on a Sunday night and I called to find out when the kitchen was closing and they were nice enough to say that they would wait a few minutes for us knowing we were on our way. I had a delicious seared scallops dinner with the most wonderful sweet potato potato fries I've ever had and my friend had salmon on top of risotto and everything was absolutely marvelous including the service.

Ancient Mariner is the BEST. I love taking guests there because there is something for EVERYONE. The menu is diverse and always delicious. The environment is so cool, great vibes. The staff and the owner bring so much life and energy into the experience. It’s definitely my go-to for my family and guests 💜
