I love coming to Roots! It’s always so flavorful and delicious. I got a custom bowl with the mushrooms and tried the jackfruit on the side. The mushrooms was 🔥 like always!!! Best mushrooms I’ve ever tasted. The jackfruit was okay, not my cup of tea only because it was slightly tangy and it’s always hard to get that tang taste out of jackfruit. But I appreciated Jody for working with me and recommending the jackfruit sauce to make it taste better! That was really sweet of her. But yes, love this place. Definitely give it a try if your looking for healthy food around VCUs campus.
I got the El Jefe bowl and it did not disappoint! Chicken was on point and had a great flavor. The staff was friendly and it had a great vibe. I would definitely recommend this place and come back when we visit!
I dont normally like healthy food like this but I tried it because they offer kids eat free bowls everyday and I'm really glad I did. Everything I've had has been so good and the portions are very big. Highly recommend.
Ordered through Uber Eats to the hotel I was staying at. Quick prep and delivery. Minus one star bc I ordered a strawberry dragonfruit Roots tea and got a can of spindrift sparkling water… I paid for the tea, if the were out and needed to substitute they could have called me and I would have just cancelled the drink order. Their Mayweather salad is really flavorful tho so overall I’m happy just don’t make assumptions on substitutions.
First off- I got the Mad Bowl and it was absolutely delicious. My only complaint about the food was that the mushrooms were very gritty and sometimes hurt the teeth, which tells me they might not have been washed thoroughly. Notice that even so I rated 4 stars because the food is that dang good. The service was alright, but at the end of the line with the proteins, the people making my food were talking to each other and just holding my food doing nothing/moving slowly so I just had to awkwardly wait for them to finish my bowl while they nonchalantly chatted. Overall though, good experience and definitely will be back.
Like a healthy chipotle— really good, my husband asks to come back here all the time. It’s pricey, but the quality of food you get seems worth it. Their homemade drinks are good, and we don’t have kids but kids eat free is awesome!
I thought Roots would for sure be more expensive than Cava, but it wasn't, and also gave me more food than Cava did. I also wasn't expecting it to be very tasty, being a health-minded restaurant, but it delivered on that front too! I definitely wish I hadn't judged this place poorly when I first got to Richmond, because I've been missing out on some good food this whole time. Staff were super nice, even when I was awkward. Shoutout to the workers here :)
It's delicious. I get two meals out of one bowl. 20% off for the Richmond locations when you wear Black & Gold on Wednesday too!
Okay, so this spot truly is a gem! Definitely the best Salad Spot that I've found this far in Virginia!
Just the right amount of choices so you don't get overwhelmed; but also the option to create your own! The portion size is very generous as well. I will definitely be back!
Today was my second time getting lunch from Roots and I’m nothing less than satisfied. Got the Pest Caesar bowl the first time, followed by El Jefe today. Both bowls were fantastic with just enough spice to make your nose run a bit, but still enjoy all the ingredients. Will definitely return! Thank you.
