Lovely place. Only complaint was that the wonton chips were very stale but maybe it’s because I went an hour before closing. Shanghai noodles are okay but not enough curry, flavor, or sauce. I HIGHLY recommend the red wood city glazed tofu. It tasted like French toast and was sooo filling and amazing I’d come back just for that alone.
I ordered takeout for Lunar New Year, it was my first with this restaurant and we got the food delivered. Everything was great, our food came on time and no mistake was made . We tried out several items and everything was delicious.
This was great for New Year's Day Since we wanted to take it easy and enjoy Chinese food as a sweet date with my spouse. Plus it felt great to stay safe away from negative or sickness in the world. . We picked up 5 things we ordered and it was all delicious and hot even though we were 6 minutes away driving.
Personally a bit hard to review. I do really like some of their dishes, but I also really didn't like others.
Would highly recommend: redwood original spicy noodles soup, water-boiled fish fillets with napa cabbage, fish fillets topped w/black beans garlic and chili, ma po tofu, salt and pepper chicken wings, salt and pepper pork chops, hunan chili pork.
Would really not recommend: Szechuan dan dan noodles, chicken chow fun, singapore style fried rice noodles, green onion pancake, walnut prawns.
Once in a while, you find a restaurant that serves great food with a great attitude, and your soul yearns for you to come back again. I'm happy to say, this is one of those places for me.

This little cafe doesn't look like much from the outside, but you'll be instantly amazed the moment you walk in. Our waitress, Lulu, is one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. Aside from providing the best service I've ever experienced, she went above and beyond by telling me (a new grad student) a lot about the area. It's nice to feel that someone cares about you.
The food itself was beyond outstanding. The imperial pork chops were the best. Coming right out of the fryer, they were really crispy and tangy. The fish in chili oil goes great over rice. If you're looking for an authentic Szechuan dish, this is it. It may be too spicy for some, but you can ask to have it mild when you order.
Overall, the food and service were both outstanding. It's about 7 miles away from my campus, but that's not going to stop me from coming back.
Service was great! We came here for dinner and ordered the hot and sour soup, mapo tofu and the dried sauteed beef with chilies. Food came out quickly and was really good. One thing I didn't like was that the rice was not included and that you have to order it separately. Overall it was a great experience and will be coming back here! Their lunch menu looked really decent price and food wise so will be checking that out!
We love the original glazed ribs, twice cooked pork, tomato beef chow mein, and more! Great Chinese comfort food.
Wow, this place is amazing! I ended up in Redwood City after dropping off a passenger from S.F. and was itching for some good chinese food. I ended up choosing this spot after seeing all the positive reviews. Let me say that the positivd reviews are legit!
I was greeted by the awesome Tina, who was also my server. She was very polite and courteous. Now let me get to the good stuff, the food! I ordeded a Lemon Chicken plate. The side items I chose were soup and fried rice. I didn't know what to expect considering I was getting a plate at lunch special price. I was very surprised at the quality and faste of the food!
I'm very particular about the chicken I eat and I immediately noticed this place uses white chicken meat. The soup was delicious and came in nice little bowl with a matching spoon. The rice had a nice flavor, not bland or sticky, and most importantly... fluffy! The plate was well presented and garnished with a couple slices of lemon. Again, not what I was expecting considering the price I was paying.
Overall I highly recommend this place whether you come during lunch or dinner hours. I've been to many chinese food restaurants in my life and Redwood Bistro will be my favorite from now on.
Also, remember to compliment the unsung hero of this place, the chef! He'll greatly appreciate it!
Thank you again to Tina and all the wondedful staff at Redsood Bistro!
