Cafe At Maidens

A delightful surprise stop this morning. I've never driven by when they've been open, so I was excited to give this place a try. No disappointment here! Walked into a comfy, warm spot and was greeted with a friendly welcome. While waiting for my made-to-order egg sandwich, I checked out the clever small business table and even picked up a few cards. Loved seeing the customers interacting. More tables than I expected to see, and even a few outdoor seats. My sandwich was great, but since I took it to go, I need to come back soon to enjoy the cafe!

Not what I was expecting. Pancakes were very dry and khaki. They were also cinnamon flavored and almost seemed like they were gluten-free. They were also pretty small. The side of ham that we got I’ve never had served anywhere in my life. It was literally lunchmeat that had been warmed up on the stove. IMO very overpriced.

Definitely a DELICIOUS hole in the wall. If you are in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. Overall it's a bit greasy, but the service and the flavor of the sandwiches and the fries were so good, I can forgive this little negative. It's not health food, but who cares when you've got a ridiculously delicious Pastrami and fries to wolf down. I also tried the steak and cheese, but I preferred the Pastrami. In general steak and cheese isn't my first choice anywhere, so perhaps if you are a fan of them, you'll love this one. The fries were seasoned well. Definitely grab a basket! Powhatan State park is just 2 minutes away, grab your food to go, and go enjoy a picnic!
