Every time I travel to Portland I visit Maiz. They are celiac safe and have the best food in town! They have gluten free beer, great polar seltzer and other beverage selections. I have had every arepa on the menu. This is the perfect place to grab a quick bite to eat or take something to go. The customer service and care they give their customers is unmatched.

I love New England style seafood and I usually stick to local fare while traveling but this was a treat to find. MAIZ is definitely worth the stop and I wish I had more time in Portland so I could go back again.

Wonderful food! Everything was made with super fresh ingredients and you could tell, it was delicious! Be sure to try some of their sauces, we liked every sauce we tried. Good little beer selection, including gluten free beers. The entire restaurant is gluten free, I have celiac disease and this put me at ease eating here! We look forward to returning.

Wow, what a dish! Giant stuffed sweet plantain with cheese and deliciously decadent pork! I was in heaven and just about polished it off but did not have more room to finish my yummy empanadas. I am ready to power thru the whole menu and going with a bunch of friends might help. The service was impeccable and the staff are very kind and helpful. An absolute gem.

MAIZ feels very authentic and had big portions for a great price. There are a couple vegan arepas that can be paired with about half of their sauces. I got the sweet maitake with the cilantro sauce and it was incredible!
