Friday night. Fall. Brisk yet comfortable. Maine. Your humble narrator chooses to venture out to unwind and treat himself to the best burger in town. There’s a line at the door.. he sees a single corner spot waiting and deftly maneuvers to grab it. “What are you having?” “Can I get a ‘The Burger’ and a Hendricks & Tonic, please?” “Sure, how would you like that?” “Medium, thank you.” --- Your humble narrator is in his happy place. The once refreshing “Gin for the Win” has taken back burner to the carnal juicy succulence of brisket blanketed by thick cut smoked bacon.. meticulously adorned with the tart deliciousness of the traditional style house-made pickle.. and the sweet freshness of grilled onion. By this point, the Friday night dinner-rush has subsided. and your humble narrator has more elbow room. “I guess I have to stand near this f*cking guy with his stupid Cubs hat” is heard from across the room in a Fran Drescher-esque shriek. The burger love affair has ended. The bartender stares at her.. wondering if he needs to cut someone off before ever serving them. “Fran Drescher” orders a water. then proceeds to tell your humble narrator to crawl in a hole and die while punching him in the arm. I think she was hitting on me. Too bad I don’t date Red Sox fans. This advertisement paid for by Woodford Food & Beverage, home of the best burger in Portland. Go Cubs

We love this place. The food, always excellent, every single dish and the best burger, anywhere, hands down. We have been eating here 3-4 times a month here since opening and we love the atmosphere and the staff, bartender and owner. Drinks are great, best cosmopolitan!! Love this place.

Drinks and salad were great! We ordered the burger and a tamarind pork chop special for our entrées. Both were utterly fantastic… the kind where you’re so full but just keep eating. Portions are quite generous and next time we might just do one entrée to share! Service was great too. Looking forward to going back and trying more on the menu.

All the food was very good. Appetizer and dessert portions were huge, entrees were a decent size. My burger came out too well done, but other than that the food was incredible. Drinks were a bit weak. All in all though, a great evening and I will look forward to going back.

This is a great spot. We loved the atmosphere. Food was excellent. We had mussels and crispy brussel sprouts. The broth was tasty, and the baguette was perfect for sopping up the flavor. The staff was attentive and fun, but didn't hover. The crowd was a mix of couples and groups. The long bar would be a great place to meet friends for a casual dinner. Yum!

Interesting location in a cool mid century building. Parking was a bit difficult as there was no real on-site parking and it is located in a large intersection. We had to Google parking to find that they use a parking lot up the street. Not a long walk. Very noisy inside. The menu is limited, but inspired, with a rotating cut of meat daily. The scallop risotto was an interesting take, but was dry and relatively bland. The lump crab cakes were nice, but the texture was too uniform, with more breadcrumbs than crab. The steak frites was a beautiful cut of meat cooked perfectly, but lacked seasoning. Overall, it was an interesting dinner, but for 4 people (2 children) at $200, it wasn't worth the price.

I was brought here on a recommendation by Phuc Tran, author of his memoir Sigh, Gone and we had a great time dining outdoors. Service was terrific and accommodating. I had the crab cakes which came out fresh and savory. Good drink options too

First time trying it out in our new town. The service was great and the food was delicious. We brought our toddler and the staff was very accommodating. We will definitely be back. Also, the burger and fries are scrumptious.

I really appreciate this place. People are super friendly, you can really taste the quality of the food. Quality and concept 100% perf Conception is at 90% You can tell they put a lot of energy into making this high quality food from fresh ingredients. Most of what I ate was superb. A few dishes didn't quite come together as well as they might have but considering they change their menu so often it's understandable that not everything gets to get fine tuned everytime. Deviled eggs where phenomenal, I've had their kimchi ones as well as horseradish and bacon. They give 6 halves which is a big serving ! The flavors really came through so well. Mac and cheese was really good! True test was that it still tasted great the next day! It's not a creamy mac and cheese, it's feels home made but with top notch ingredients. Beet salad was ok, there were great big pieces of beets, all the ingredients were fresh, the dressing was super tasty! But it didn't really feel like it came together, the escarole was a raw, so too bitter to be served in such big chunks. Shredded or cooked would have brought it a better flavor. The beets also lacked flavor and some were a little undercooked. But i enjoyed the citrus for pops of sweetness! 1/2 chicken was very tasty. Only had a bite before the other person ate it all ahaha so i don't have much to say there. Dark chocolate pudding has an excellent texture and tastes pretty darn good!
