Matt's definitely gets a five star because it's the best barbecue in Portland and it's the closest thing I've had to something like southern barbecue or Midwestern barbecue that's just so good. Why is barbecue so hard to get in Portland we have really really good we have a great beef and meat in this damn state start using it correctly!

We like Matt's BBQ. My son prefers the brisket and I like beef rib. They were both juicy and tasty. The BBQ sauce was also good (not spicy and enough tanginess). We ordered jalapeno cheese sausage and that's also good (good flavor and not too spicy). The pickles were refreshing and a good way to clean your palette. For beef rib price, it really depends on how big the piece is.

This place can compete with the best BBQ joints in Texas. I haven’t had a better meal in Portland yet! The fatty and lean brisket are juicy and tender, the pork ribs are large and flavorful, and the burnt ends of both the pork belly and brisket are outstanding. Also, this is probably the only place in Portland where you can get real queso! If you are looking for authentic, you have found it!

Ordered online for take-out twice. The brisket is wonderful. Packed with flavor. We bought sauces as well (garlic based one and vinegar based one, both fantastic). Initially ordered from here March 2020, then later ordered 2nd time when working from home. Highly recommend.

A+++ from a born and raised Texan. The meat is tender and delicious and sauces are fantastic. I had never heard of peach mustard or hog vinegar but can't wait to have both again. Get extra everything for later or you'll wish you had. SEATING IS LIMITED but possible with good old Portland politeness, patience and paying attention to signage.

Recommended by a friend. Love the online ordering! We showed up at lunch time so we were in competition with 6-8 dudes -who could figure it out fastest?They stood around and clogged up the sidewalk stuffing their faces first. We ate ours in our car. We were super happy with our food. I had a few breakfast tacos- vegetarian and hubby had a brisket and a pork belly taco. Really a good value. Check em out!

First BBQ I’ve had since leaving Texas that holds a candle. So good I basically cried into my brisket. The sausage had perfect snap. The sauces were sweet and bold. The pickles, wow so yummy. My Mac and cheese was so gooey it almost cured my depression.
