Jamaican Homestyle Cuisine is an island taste in the Pacific Northwest. Family run, friendly staff, wicked good food.
1st time but Won’t be the last time. Thank me later.

My normal location was closed. So I stumbled on this location. Let me just say words can't describe how delicious their oxtails we're. I also loved the pineapple Jamaican drink as well. The food was so good I didn't get to take photos. But if you want some great JERK food please don't sleep on this location. All the food was piping hot as well. I can't wait to get back down to Portland for them Oxtails.

Just excellent. Really tasted like the home cooked meals I remember having growing up. Flavorful from the first bite to the last. Meat practically melted off the bones, very generous portions. I look forward to visiting the next time I am in Portland.

The restaurant lives up to its namesake. It feels like home style Jamaican cuisine. From the decor, to the family staff, it didn't feel like a Portland siburb inside. I wanted to love this place but we did run into some issues. We ordered the spicy beef patty, ox tail meals and jerk chicken meals. The flavors and seasoning felt like home, but the chicken on all our meals were too dry and seemed like was made with older chicken. That was a shame. The oxtail meal was very flavourful, and I would suggest always ordering it with extra gravy, as it mixes very well with the spiced rice. The oxtail was not as tender as some other places but it's not a deal breaker. The spicy beef patty were flaky and warm, but I'm not sure if i could justify the 5 dollar per patty price to buy again. I want to believe that perhaps our meals were a one off, but we ended up with chicken which was too dry to be enjoyable. If fresh, I would give this place a solid 4 to 5 stars. And because I want there to be more Caribbean places, and I believe it was a one off, I would recommend you try it once and see. The flavors were legit.

The sorrel drink had way too much ginger. It was more like drinking ginger beer. The oxtail is 25.99 but not worth the price and the rice was bland. The jerk chicken was in point.

Food was good overall, good price and great portions. The jerk chicken was a bit charred but everything had a great flavor.

If you have never come you are missing out! This place was recommended by my kid who loves the food so much he comes every week. The owner made ya feel welcome, laughed with us and fed us like Kings! The food is killer, music is bomb and the service is off the charts! We will be back and worth the drive.
