As we were waiting outside some people in the line before us said let’s go elsewhere the hostess is rude.. and we should have listened. We love the portland food scene and were super excited to try this spot. they had a good waiting system whereby you could order a drink whilst waiting for your table and we didn’t have to wait too long. note they don’t have a cocktail menu - you just describe what you like which i personally loved! when we got seated is when stuff started to go bad. it took us around 15 mins to get any attention from a server by which time we were gasping for water! the service was incredibly slow. i eat out all over and we were totally ignored… multiple times. we had to ask our server for water, drinks refills and even our ordered food (that never seemed to appear..?!). We didn’t know if we would just have to give up as it was so slow and there was no communication around timings/ delays etc. After continual reminders over a long space of time we got all of our food - it was fine- charcuterie/ cheese board is very small but tasty, lovely salad and ok steak tartare. When we received the cheese board the waiter did not say what any of the cheese is (and this is not on the menu)- same with the charcuterie despite paying premium prices for these. For the steak tartare it came with spices and an egg yolk- no one told us what they were or how to mix this- very much serve yourself and figure it out. When we mentioned these two items and the generally slow service to the manager she was extremely rude, blamed us (said we were “chugging” wine when we’d had two glasses each, that it was more of a bar not restaurant and also said the service is always this way so we shouldn’t expect any better any other time… i think this probably gives you your answer but would strongly not recommend - we were looking for a special night to celebrate an occasion and it was totally ruined by the staff and handling. food is ok but don’t put yourself through it there are lots of great spots around here.
