One of my favorite bars in Portland; stiff drinks, kick-ass staff- divey but not really a dive. Plus the history of this place is rad- definitely check them out. I take all of my visiting out of town friends here.
Sandy Hut is a strange, triangular-shaped bar and lounge decorated in '70's decor. it is the definition of a dive-bar: small, cozy, and full who look like they belong there. The food is cheap, but surprisingly good. The jukebox is always on, as are the pinball machines in the corner. My 60-year-old uncle or Michael Corleone belong here. Great place!
If you were in bar. Security guy checked your ID immediately and he puts the stamp on your wrist. When you got a stamp on your wrist they didn’t check your ID anymore that night. music sounds so loud. Very crowded place because they opened the bar at late night. Only few places opened at midnight. This place is a very popular. Beers were cold enough and fresh. Order some foods are difficult and tough because bar staffs were so busy and crowded. They seemed like a super busy.

In anticipation of a 100th Anniversary event, we dropped in for a preview on a day that would be less busy. WOW! Delicious, hearty food in great portions, and solid drinks. For our specific visit, compliments to the brunch chef (Aimee) and our bartender (Jordan).
Stayed at the Lodge across the street and came over for a beer. Found a cool little bar full of eclectic folks listening to classic country. I'd be at this bar all the time if I lived in Portland.
Bartenders are more interested in talking/serving their friends then the customer next/in front of them. Overall the food and atmosphere were as expected. I just didn't want to leave regretting the large tip I prepaid.
Knowledgeable nice staff, awesome (Asian, hot, Chipotle lime, etc chicken wings), great burgers, IMPOSSIBLE BURGER and vegetarian options, Mac and cheese.. good happy hour.
Great place, great bartenders and on sundays there is an amazing country dj night
A dive, but just exactly the right kind of dive. Cocktails were first class, food good. I don't know how long it's been there but you can feel the history.
My kinda place honestly. Looked like it might be closed but I ventured past the padlocked door.
Would've loved to try the food but the bartender wouldn't stop talking to, what I'm guessing was a coke dealer, so I didn't get the opportunity to order. Next time!
A delightful dive. Pinball, full bar, decent food. But it’s the atmosphere that’s the real draw.
Great place has video poker pool table and awesome service..
However there is not much room to maneuver around the pool table with put the cue stick either in other customers space or hitting the wall on one side
