Portions fit for a king. First of all the service is amazing. Great staff here. The atmosphere is quite beautiful although I believe it's ambiance is missing proper music. The food though is great and portions are 🤤. The chicken wings are delicious as well as the jollof rice. The lamb was very tasty too. It's definitely a great place to visit if you are ever in Portland.

Delicious and filling! My husband and I were traveling through Portland for the night. I’d never had West African food and the reviews looked great. I was blown away. We had the appetizer platter, the oxtail jollaf platter and the peanut stew. We couldn’t finish our meals and we were so full! We easily could’ve done just the appetizer player and maybe an entree. Even one dish between two people would’ve been a good amount of food. Even then with all of it plus two drinks it was very reasonable. I’d definitely come again.

I haven’t had West African food before and loved my peanut chicken stew with fufu (cassava dough used to sop up the stew), very flavorful and filling. My dinner companion had the oxtail jolof meal which was great as well. Also had the tuna pastel appetizer. The service was great with friendly staff, nice large open space and decor. I will definitely be back!

Although they didn't have yucca fries and okra soup, their stews were amazing. So much spice and flavor packed in. The atmosphere was very nice. The staff were so welcoming. Overall, great addition to PDX. My husband and I loved it!

I came here with two other people, we did make a reservation for Friday night which was very much needed because there were many people without reservations waiting. We had to wait about 5–10min to talk to the host in order to be seated mainly because she was also doing other things as well aside from just greeting guests. I think they are a little understaffed but they seem to manage okay. We were given physical menus but there was also a QR code for scanning, when our server came around we asked to clarify and you have the option to order with the server or do it through the online version. We just ordered with the server and he helped us understand some portioning and sizes. The food was reallyyyyy good. We got the appetizer platter, Oxtail Stew with cassava fufu and Coconut Jollof Rice with Lamb. The server helped us understand what fufu was as well since we had heard of it but never had it. We also had desert of the cassava cake and the puff puff donuts. We had no complaints about any of the food, for those who don’t know what cassava is, look it up but know it’s a bit more dense so it’s pretty filling but very yummy in everything it was in. My favorite had to be the Pastel! So so delicious both vegan and the tuna version. I highly recommend the appetizer platter to try a little of everything on the appetizer menu. All the meat we ate was falling right off the bone as well, super tender and juicy. Nothing was dry. The spices and flavors were also very complimentary and didn’t feel over powering, highly recommend. Our server was pretty good about checking in with us and even asked if we wanted to get the bill out of the way when dessert came so we could leave when we were ready. The atmosphere of the place is very nicely decorated with high ceilings. It didn’t feel too noisy, you could chat easily. There was music but it wasn’t overpowering, just right. I will definitely be back and bring more friends.

The restaurant is stunning, the service is top-notch, the food selection is incredible, the cocktails are perfect, and the food was delicious, packed with flavor and plentiful. I had the whole fish and paired it with jollof rice. I made a reservation the day before because my friend and I were traveling through Portland, and this restaurant is the only West African restaurant in Portland. I would give it a 10/10 rating and wholeheartedly recommend it.

Although a very banal exterior, the interior is just delightful. It's so beautifully decorated and is very different from any other restaurant in Portland that I've been to. Naturally, you can't wait to be seated but despite a reservation, we had to wait for someone to even talk to. Most of the staff looked really confused- clearly, understaffing was an issue here too, as in many other restaurants recently. While continuing to admire the interiors, we ordered lentil samosa, manioc fries, a jolof meal with chicken, and a shosho (the black eyed peas stew). The food was utterly delicious... we gobbled up the appetizers so quickly that when we saw the portion sizes of the entrees, we knew our next day's lunch was set (and made for delicious leftovers). We had ordered a side of fufu too, which never showed up. Although we had issues getting the attention of the servers, whatever service we did receive, was warm and courteous. So, looking forward to visiting again with a bigger group so we can try more of their soulful food!

Really enjoyed the meal over at Akadi. I heard heard recommendations from a friend and the paradises lived up to the hype. The vibe was great and the festive decor paired perfectly with the live jazz band that apparently plays every wed-thurs. Food itself was incredibly flavorful and tasty. The meat in general was fall off the bone on every dish and the portions were quite large! The drinks as well were tasty, with a big recommendation for the Sangria. In general thought it was a fantastic evening and overall experience, a little bit different than your average in Portland. Great place to take guests as well.

This is an absolute must visit for Portland. The food is phenomenal, the ambiance is beautiful, and the staff is amazing. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious. They also have so many vegetarian and vegan options. On Wednesday night and one other night they have live music as well. I recommend the samosas and the yucca. All the stews are delicious. I highly highly recommend you check geck them out, you will not regret it.
