Sushi Mazi

I’ve gone to Mazi twice now and have had above expectation experiences both times. Everything is simply well done - the food is very good, from the apps to the freshness of the sushi to the creativity of the rolls, the service is pretty good, even with only one or two waiters, and the sake menu is excellent. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. The prices aren’t crazy, either. There’s the usual sushi sticker shock, but we always come out full and happy for about $100 for the two of us, which feels very reasonable for a very nice dinner, especially compared to some of the fancy places around town. So far, I’d say this is the best sushi joint in Portland, and I’ve heard that from a few others, as well.

wow! stepping into sushi mazi is like entering another world, one of course filled with delicious things to eat and drink and sweet people and decor. somehow I’ve lived and worked in this neighborhood since long before the restaurant was open and never eaten here; I’ll be recommending it to everyone. truly nothing but perfection.

Great sushi restaurant. Definitely recommend the nigiri style sushi with aged toro salmon and aged tuna. So delicious. The other rolls we had were very good too, and the miso soup was the best we’ve had. The chef/owner checked in with us which was very nice, and our server was extremely kind and helpful. Will definitely return

Absolutely incredible! Amazing quality of sushi served by an incredible couple team. Beautiful space that makes you feel at home. Unique cured, dry aged fish, the salmon was my favorite, it literally melts in your mouth. Pop rocks on sushi? Turns out it works, a sensory experience! Can't wait to come back.
