Charlie's Deli

Food was great. First time there and i asked what was good to try and the lady didnt have an answer for me but i got the pastrami on rye and it was ok. 13 bucks and was told the prices are for a half of a sandwich and that seem ridiculous but i got a whole sando. Idk if its cause the sandwich i got but ya 26 bucks for a sub of any kind is borderline. Idk if i will go back due to not beeing able to go in the establishment and its in the heart of drug central downtown portland and i have to wait outside where whackos are roaming around. Uncomfortable to say the least.

My boyfriend and I eat from this place all the time. Their tomato soup is amazing, potato salad is great, and tasty deserts. Their sandwiches are large in portion and regular deli price in Portland. I am an AVID sandwich eater, have eaten from the vast majority of sandwich shops in the city, and these prices are normal, not sure why everyone is complaining about it. I’ve never had a problem with their food, besides the grilled cheese which was unmelted slices of cheese on some sourdough. But other than this one experience I really love this deli. It’s a solid sandwich shop and a downtown staple.

My son (5) and I just moved here and I gotta say this is one of the best sandwiches I have had. He ate his whole sandwich. The canoli's are so amazing and just what I needed to heal a stressful day. 10/10!! The sandwich I got usually comes with onions and they actually followed what I ordered (no onions) This is a place I will definitely be ordering from again. Thank the entire crew for making our move to Portland that much better with the great food and awesome customer service.

first time trying Charlie’s. found the restaurant on uber eats but ended up ordering delivery directly through Charlie’s website. My order had a few mods and they were followed through perfectly. Delightfully crunchy yet soft bread, super fresh produce and meats. Cannoli was 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I will definitely be coming back to Charlie’s whenever I visit Portland!

Sandwiches here were very good overall. There is a generous helping of meat on each, in a hot toasty bun. Orders come out at a steady pace but a bit slow compared to other lunch deli's. I think the sourness from having both mustard and pickles in each sandwich can be toned down a bit, as it is covering up the very delicious smoked meat flavor. Condiments could also be put between the meat and cheese instead of directly on the bread, so as to prevent the bread from getting soggy and the contents from spilling out when eating.
