Great presentation, good food, amazing Thai tea. The presentation of the food and atmosphere of the place were great! Every dish came out really pretty and delicious. Do note though that most dishes are on the sweeter side but I feel like with Thai food it’s either spicy, sweet or a combo of both. Loved their Thai tea as it wasn’t as sweet and their beef and eggplant dish was delicious. Would come again!

This place offers flavorful and authentic Thai food, definitely recommend. Started with shrimp salad rolls with peanut sauce and thai iced tea which was amazing. My friend had the veggie cashew nut dish and I had the beef drunken noodles (Pad see ew). The portions are on point, you won't leave hungry. Service was very prompt, wasn't busy in the middle of the day.

Red Onion is a nice restaurant! The staff was very friendly. Our order came quickly and was nice and hot. And the food tasted fresh. I rated the atmosphere a 3 only because it's nothing to write home about. Very plain. (If you're into the atmosphere experience, this may not be the place for you.) Otherwise, craving Thai? I would recommend it!

A solid place to go for lunch when in the NW 23rd area. The place has a decent lunch menu and reasonable prices. The portions are healthy and great for sharing. The service is attentive and quick. The Drunken Noodles and Chinese Susage Fried Rice were worth ordering over the Tom Yum Noodle Soup in my opinion.

Monday night at 7:30 we found it almost empty, surprisingly after we ate here there’s not too many people dining here. Food taste is consistently really good, both times we ordered Tender Beef and Chili Chicken., I ordered both spicy and oh so good! We are coming back soon 😋 the only part that can improve is to offer use an up charge to sub out the steamed rice for sticky rice , instead the server said if I wanted sticky rice they will bring both which are huge bowls of wasted rice… also adding music would improve the atmosphere, as it gets echoey inside.

We have been in search of good Thai take out since our favorite place in NW, eSan Thai off NW Thurman, closed down awhile back. But every time we order from some place new, we are sadly disappointed… until tonight. Red Onion is officially our new go to place for anything and everything Thai. Their food was positively on point and so delicious, with the flavors absolutely bursting in your mouth with every bite. You won’t find any of that bland Thai food that you get at most places here. We decided to go with the basics our first time around and had the Pad Thai, the Pineapple Fried Rice, Tom Kha Soup and Fried Egg Rolls, and everything was divine! We will definitely step out of our comfort zone and be a little more adventurous the next time we visit as I’m sure we will be pleased with whatever we order. If it was this good on takeout, I cannot even imagine how good it would be if we had eaten it fresh at the restaurant when it was still piping hot. I took pics, but they honestly don’t even begin to do it justice. Overall, if you are looking for good quality tasty Thai food in Portland, this is THE PLACE to go. Dine in or take out, you won’t be disappointed.

I ordered the beef, pumpkin massaman curry dish and it was legitimately one of the best curry dishes I've ever tasted. The beef was completely tender like a slow-cooked stew beef should be. I could break it apart with a fork without force. The flavor and consistency of the sauce was *perfect*, and the menu describes the curry itself as being house-made - I believe it, as it's the best yellow curry of any kind I've had before. Also, it bears mentioning that their online ordering measures for gauging how spicy you'd like your food (within the 'seamless' option anyway), hit the mark just right for me, between what I chose and what I got. Although I will also mention that this same portal for online ordering ultimately told me that the order (for just the one item) would not be ready for about 45 mins, which was definitely not how long it took to make a curry with a side of rice. My food was a little cold when I showed up only 30 mins after ordering, as opposed to 45+ as suggested. So beware the Seamless ETA suggestion when ordering and consider arriving sooner, as your order will be sitting on an unheated counter waiting for you. Seamless issue aside, and very fortunately, I only live about 3 blocks from this place, so I'm thinking this will become my go-to Thai place if the rest of their menu continues to be this excellent. I've only gotten take-out so far, upon this first visit, so I can't really speak to the service or the atmosphere, but when I arrived to pick it up, the place was very clean and the host was pleasant. I'll look forward to trying more of their dishes soon.

I love Thai and this place is authentic and delicious. Service for takeout was okay but the food was excellent and the lunch prices were equally excellent. The rice was tasty, the vegetables were cooked perfectly, and the noodles were scrumptious.

Food is typically good here, solid Pad Thai, great crab cakes, and drinks. Not over priced. This time, I had veggies and peanut sauce, "the emerald". The veggies were super soggy, with no flavor and lots of excess water on the plate from the boiled veggies. I had to actually drain it, kinda gross. Eeh. Peanut sauce is very good.
