Amazing service, food, drinks, and ambience. Only three severs managing outside, inside, and bar seating. My server was amazing as she was serving people at the bar as well as myself. I decided to order the green salad, shrimp with Thai sauce in phyllo dough pastry and crème brûlée. I couldn’t get the scallops as the menu is only correct on their own website, due to the changes daily based on fresh fish availability. Loved this place!
Fantastic food experience here! We tried the Artisan cheeses plate, so lovely; also had Cioppino and the Seared Duck Breast, both delicious, with great flavours. Service was excellent and the Cristam Viognier wine was perfect with our meals!
An unbelievable dining experience we were from out of town on a work trip we came in on a Tuesday and had one of the most amazing dinners... every dish we had was to die for... highly recommend
10/10, loved this experience!!
If you go, I HIGHLY recommend the lamb. It was the best thing I ate there, and easily ranks top 5 meals I’ve ever had in my entire life.
I wish I was still there, just so I could eat that lamb again.
We had an amazing dining experience here last night!
Not only was our server friendly and attentive, but the food was second to none and easily on par with the offerings of a Michelin Star Restaurant (except far more reasonably priced).
The oysters on the half shell were spectacular, as was the fresh chive blinis with trout roe caviar... but the show stopper for me was the most amazingly flavored Cioppino with the Dungeness Crab, Clams, Mussels, Shrimp, and Calamari!
It's true that this restaurant excels at seafood, but don't make the mistake of thinking that this is all they do... the Lamb Loin with Rosemary Ricotta Dumplings was also incredibly delicious.
In addition to their extensive wine list (the Cab Franc paired lovely with both the Cioppino and the Lamb), they also have a full bar with a friendly and talented mixologist at the helm that created a very tasty Chocolate Martini to accompany our desert.
Returned after a few years for a birthday dinner and found Cabezón to be as great as ever. The ambiance is welcoming and comfort. Seems like they expanded since I was there last time. The bar is beautiful; check out the jellyfish lights! Attentive service. Beautiful and complex menu focusing on a modest selection of well executed appetizers and entrées. Everything we ordered was delicious. Hard to go wrong! Highlights were the phyllo wrapped shrimp, smoked sturgeon, mussels, cioppino and lamb chops. A daily special was the snook, a fish you don’t often see on a menu. Get it if you can!
If you’re a foodie and like restaurants with creative, flavorful, and well cooked dishes, this is a must-try in the Portland area.
Not only was the food delicious but the service was attentive and the ambiance well suited for the cuisine. The pricing was great in my opinion for the quality of food and the types of dishes served.
Here are the dishes we tried:
1. Oysters - standard, they were fresh and the onions to spoon on top were fresh and the lemon wedge to squeeze was a great touch.
2. Artisan cheeses - great variety of cheese accompaniments, there were fruits and nuts and crackers. The cheeses themselves ranged in terms of flavor and were generally soft. One had less flavor but the other two were creamy and flavorful.
3. House cut fries and garlic aioli. Delicious. Well fried and seasoned with salt and the garlic aioli was a nice touch. They stayed warm surprisingly long and were fresh.
4. Chive blini - first time trying this dish and I loved it! All of it tasted fresh, respectively, and the caviar was delicate and a nice compliment to the sour cream.
4. Duck confit - memorable orange sauce, acceptable quantity of meat, and not especially greasy.
5. Lamb chops - delicious reduction sauce, the olive Madeira jus was just amazing, the dumplings were light and paired well with the dish, the lamp chops were cooked to my preference - medium rare, and it was a good portion size. This dish was honestly delicious with the seasonal veggies.
6. BASIL AND PHYLLO WRAPPED WHITE SHRIMP - really great salad!! The shrimp was cooked extremely well and the dish was unique. Large portion for the price. The noodles were a great compliment to the shrimp.
7. Callebaut Belgian Chocolate pot de crème - this was exceptionally smooth. The chocolate was a deep and rich flavor.
8. Lavender and honey crème brûlée - one of the most unique and tastefully done desserts I’ve ever tried. The sugar was perfectly Caramelized on top and the lavender flavor in the crème was delicate and subtle and the perfect accent to a unique take on crème brûlée. The honey was also in the crème part of the dessert but more subtle than the lavender. The crème was rich tasting and creamy.
9. Almost forgot to mention - the asparagus soup! Delicious soup. It was light on salt but I almost preferred that they didn’t default to that for flavor. The soup wasn’t heavy or overly creamy either. Great dish to start the meal.
I can’t wait to go to this restaurant again, they change their menu daily which is so exciting! The dishes I tried even have subtle twists to what is listed online.
Took a while to get the food after making the order. Street parking is available near by. Food and service are very good.
It was busy but our dinner was still coursed well. Oysters were fresh and flavorful. A extensive wine list was appreciated. Fish was cooked perfectly. A fun area to explore but parking be a bit confusing due to the lay out of the streets. You’ve been warned! Maybe skip the cheese board unless you want it for dessert.
Loved this restaurant! 4.4 stars!
Great bread and amazing home made butter.
The chopino made me feel like I am in San Francisco.
The pate is delicious, but served with anison for those sensitive.
Trout bilini was the only item on the menu that did not shine.
Great coffee as well!
