Review Cabezon Restaurant - Portland

Amazing service, food, drinks, and ambience. Only three severs managing outside, inside, and bar seating. My server was amazing as she was serving people at the bar as well as myself. I decided to order the green salad, shrimp with Thai sauce in phyllo dough pastry and crème brûlée. I couldn’t get the scallops as the menu is only correct on their own website, due to the changes daily based on fresh fish availability. Loved this place!

Fantastic food experience here! We tried the Artisan cheeses plate, so lovely; also had Cioppino and the Seared Duck Breast, both delicious, with great flavours. Service was excellent and the Cristam Viognier wine was perfect with our meals!

An unbelievable dining experience we were from out of town on a work trip we came in on a Tuesday and had one of the most amazing dinners... every dish we had was to die for... highly recommend

10/10, loved this experience!! If you go, I HIGHLY recommend the lamb. It was the best thing I ate there, and easily ranks top 5 meals I’ve ever had in my entire life. I wish I was still there, just so I could eat that lamb again.

We had an amazing dining experience here last night! Not only was our server friendly and attentive, but the food was second to none and easily on par with the offerings of a Michelin Star Restaurant (except far more reasonably priced). The oysters on the half shell were spectacular, as was the fresh chive blinis with trout roe caviar... but the show stopper for me was the most amazingly flavored Cioppino with the Dungeness Crab, Clams, Mussels, Shrimp, and Calamari! It's true that this restaurant excels at seafood, but don't make the mistake of thinking that this is all they do... the Lamb Loin with Rosemary Ricotta Dumplings was also incredibly delicious. In addition to their extensive wine list (the Cab Franc paired lovely with both the Cioppino and the Lamb), they also have a full bar with a friendly and talented mixologist at the helm that created a very tasty Chocolate Martini to accompany our desert.

Returned after a few years for a birthday dinner and found Cabezón to be as great as ever. The ambiance is welcoming and comfort. Seems like they expanded since I was there last time. The bar is beautiful; check out the jellyfish lights! Attentive service. Beautiful and complex menu focusing on a modest selection of well executed appetizers and entrées. Everything we ordered was delicious. Hard to go wrong! Highlights were the phyllo wrapped shrimp, smoked sturgeon, mussels, cioppino and lamb chops. A daily special was the snook, a fish you don’t often see on a menu. Get it if you can!

If you’re a foodie and like restaurants with creative, flavorful, and well cooked dishes, this is a must-try in the Portland area. Not only was the food delicious but the service was attentive and the ambiance well suited for the cuisine. The pricing was great in my opinion for the quality of food and the types of dishes served. Here are the dishes we tried: 1. Oysters - standard, they were fresh and the onions to spoon on top were fresh and the lemon wedge to squeeze was a great touch. 2. Artisan cheeses - great variety of cheese accompaniments, there were fruits and nuts and crackers. The cheeses themselves ranged in terms of flavor and were generally soft. One had less flavor but the other two were creamy and flavorful. 3. House cut fries and garlic aioli. Delicious. Well fried and seasoned with salt and the garlic aioli was a nice touch. They stayed warm surprisingly long and were fresh. 4. Chive blini - first time trying this dish and I loved it! All of it tasted fresh, respectively, and the caviar was delicate and a nice compliment to the sour cream. 4. Duck confit - memorable orange sauce, acceptable quantity of meat, and not especially greasy. 5. Lamb chops - delicious reduction sauce, the olive Madeira jus was just amazing, the dumplings were light and paired well with the dish, the lamp chops were cooked to my preference - medium rare, and it was a good portion size. This dish was honestly delicious with the seasonal veggies. 6. BASIL AND PHYLLO WRAPPED WHITE SHRIMP - really great salad!! The shrimp was cooked extremely well and the dish was unique. Large portion for the price. The noodles were a great compliment to the shrimp. 7. Callebaut Belgian Chocolate pot de crème - this was exceptionally smooth. The chocolate was a deep and rich flavor. 8. Lavender and honey crème brûlée - one of the most unique and tastefully done desserts I’ve ever tried. The sugar was perfectly Caramelized on top and the lavender flavor in the crème was delicate and subtle and the perfect accent to a unique take on crème brûlée. The honey was also in the crème part of the dessert but more subtle than the lavender. The crème was rich tasting and creamy. 9. Almost forgot to mention - the asparagus soup! Delicious soup. It was light on salt but I almost preferred that they didn’t default to that for flavor. The soup wasn’t heavy or overly creamy either. Great dish to start the meal. I can’t wait to go to this restaurant again, they change their menu daily which is so exciting! The dishes I tried even have subtle twists to what is listed online.

Took a while to get the food after making the order. Street parking is available near by. Food and service are very good.

It was busy but our dinner was still coursed well. Oysters were fresh and flavorful. A extensive wine list was appreciated. Fish was cooked perfectly. A fun area to explore but parking be a bit confusing due to the lay out of the streets. You’ve been warned! Maybe skip the cheese board unless you want it for dessert.

Loved this restaurant! 4.4 stars! Great bread and amazing home made butter. The chopino made me feel like I am in San Francisco. The pate is delicious, but served with anison for those sensitive. Trout bilini was the only item on the menu that did not shine. Great coffee as well!

Ambience, atmosphere, staff, delicious food, excellent offering of libations. Inside and outside dining, entrees prepared by folks who love what they do and take pride in their craft while enjoying those they work with and those who keep coming back. A step up from a lot of places in a welcome setting. Highly recommend you see for yourself what a great place this is!!

Amazing seafood restaurant! We got a bunch of meals, shared it and loved all of it. The mac and cheese was delicious, but I still wish it had lobster in it! Make sure you get that bread with salted butter!!!! The drinks were really good. Our waitress was amazing and very friendly. Would recommend this to anyone craving seafood in Portland!

The food was great. My waitress didn't seem to happy. All she did to take my order and bring the check. I guess, she didn't care if my food was right/taste good. I had not much expectations from her [jun18].

Dinner was mouth watering. The flavors were perfectly paired playing off eachother. The atmosphere was warm and intimate with great service. We had high hopes for desert since the food was amazing howeve, we were disapointed. The dessert was good but not up to the same standards as the meal, I wished the crembruele was more traditional in the consistency and the sugar crust was a little thinner. Overall I recomend this resturant for all date nights!

I’ve been a foodie for a long time and I’ve lived in Portland all my life for 54 years almost. This was the best seafood experience I’ve ever had but I think what made the whole night the best was the waitress Michelle. She was so lovely and took such good care of me and my father he was celebrating his 79th birthday. I will go back here over and over and over again and I strongly recommend you do the same.

We had a terrific meal at Cabezon. Oysters were fresh and good. The blini were cute and fun. Flavors were subtle, not the salty blast one gets with some roe. The Albacore Bruschetta special was excellent: fresh vegetables in a tangy, slightly sweet sauce over delicate fish all on a toasted slice of rustic bread. Butter lettuce salad was a great compliment, understated dressing that allowed the flavors of the lettuce, hazelnuts and cheese to lead. We shared the grilled monkfish, which was a special, served with a squash gratin, jicama and sweet peppers with a light poblano sauce. Flavors were not muddled, lots of complementary combinations of textures and tastes. The lavender lemon creme brulee was a great finish. Perfect balance of sweet and bitter, creamy and crunchy. Pricing is very reasonable for the quality. We shared the above between two of us and left full and happy.

There's nothing to dislike. At all. Everything I've tried is delicious. Great staff as well.A Super unpretentious yet completely high end dining experience. The total package.
