The atmosphere is exciting, relaxing, and unique. The outdoor seating area is larger so you have multiple options for where you want to sit. It is very well shaded and there are a lot of fans! It’s a casual place to hang outside and it’s connected to Katy Trail. There were a lot of dogs, families, and friends hanging out on a nice day.

Schooner-Patio-Awesome. Katy Trail Ice House's new location in Plano called Outpost is awesome. I love this place. They have created an outdoor gravel patio that is reminiscent of sand volleyball beer courts. The gravel patio is tiered and filled with picnic tables, chairs and benches. The parameter has large evergreen trees that block out the "city" while sitting in the patio. You cannot see or hear outside, so you have a wonderful experience drinking your ice cold schooner of beer. Winter heaters cover each table for cold days. Fans and blowers are there for hot days.
The inside portion of the Outpost is heavy wood with beer kegs and decor spread around. Garage doors can be opened to make the inside bar and patio one seamless area.
The food was pretty good for a bar. Their fries are right up my alley. They are natural cut with the skin on. The outside is crisp with just a hint of salt. The inside is soft, but not mushy. Love em. The cheese fries were even better, but cheese makes everything better.
I love this place. It's really nice for having a beer and hanging with friends. If you want food, they have plenty to fend off the munchies.
Good Bar Food. I went to Katy Trail and had a pretty good burger, the Terlinqua Pride Burger. Very juicy and tasty. Service was good. If you like an ice house setting, it is a perfect place.

We love restaurants with nice patios, and the Katy Trail Ice House Outpost in Plano has a huge patio. If the weather is decent this is a great place to hang out. The patio floor is dirt and there are lots of trees around, so in addition to being a patio with a great view (not a parking lot) there is some shade.
