I have been eating Rudy's Original Steak and Cheese subs for over 25 years. I moved to Beaver County 11 years ago and it's taken me that long to find any Steak sub that comes close to Rudy's.......I am excited to be in the area tomorrow and will having one of Rudy's subs for lunch tomorrow!

I read a couple of reviews (here and elsewhere) and got excited about this place. I saw prices on the Allmenus website and got excited.
Then I went. What I learned...the food was just food...nothing great, nothing horrible. And the prices were WAY off.
I know this is a mom and pop kind of place. They don't have a website, which I understand. The problem is, you have no way to know what the menu options are or the prices without really digging around online. Allmenus said the subs were all between $4-8 (depending on half vs. whole). The reality is they're all between $5.50-11...which is a BIG difference. I've attached a copy of the menu so no one else gets burned by this.
There are a number of options. I had the cheesesteak, my wife had the tuna. She said it was dry. She asked for honey mustard on the side and got something that tasted similar to honey mustard, but had the thickness of honey (or maybe more...it was super thick). Very weird. My cheesesteak was just okay. Not a lot of flavor, but there is Frank's Red Hot on the table, so that helped.
We also had a side of fries and a side of onion rings. They were both good...nothing special there.
This is also a cash only place. This seems to be a common thing in Pittsburgh, but just be aware of it.
The food was okay. I'm not going to steer you away from here...if you're nearby, it's worth a stop. Just be aware...prices are a little on the high side (much higher than you've seen elsewhere online) and it is cash only. There also aren't a lot of tables...maybe 5-6. The people working were nice and the food came fairly fast, so that was nice.

Worth the Wait.. When I say worth the wait....I don't mean worth the time it took our food to arrive. I mean that it was worth the length of time it took me to finally get a chance to eat their incredibly delicious subs.
I have wanted to go to Rudy's for what feels like ions, but it's enough off the beaten path in Swissvale that it has not been easy to find the time. After my lunch experience Saturday, I would say it's time for me to make more of an effort going forward. Their subs were amazing. A friend and I went their after yet another Pitt basketball loss and we needed something to cheer us up. Rudy Martino's Original house of Subs did that in spades.
I ended up tasting two subs. The Cheesesteak Special which includes roasted peppers and onions, egg and a special sauce. The sandwhich was amazing delicious. I think I would have to say this was the best cheesesteak I have ever had anywhere in Pittsburgh and furthermore it's better than what I have had at Pat's or Geno's in Philly. The who sandwhich was a homerun, from the bread to the meat and toppings. Maybe if I had a critique I would say there could have been a touch more meat based on the roll and toppings but there was still a good bit.
We also had a hot Italian sub which was equally delicious. Excellent roll as before, lots of Italian meats, and fresh lettuce and tomato besides. Again my only small critique would be that as the sandwich came it could have used more dressing on it but nothing was stopping me from getting more when I ordered or once I started eating so that point is hardly worth mentioning.
It took me a looong time to finally make it to Rudy’s. I promise it will not be such a long time before I go again.
Oh yeah, the outside is dumpy looking and the inside is not much better, so don’t judge this book by it’s cover and you will be well rewarded.

Love it!. I have loved Rudy's for YEARS!!!! When they had the location in Squirrel Hill - I used to work there!! Rudy's has always been the best!!!! The best cheese steaks ever!
Rudy's is the Best!. The one, the only Original Rudy's Subs. There is no one like Rudy's. He has been around since I was a wee little girl and he has never changed his sandwiches. Love you Rudy!
My FAVORITE place to get a cheese steak hoagie is right in Swissvale just a few blocks from my house, RUDY’S!
Try Rudy's Subs. They are small and only take cash. For a long time no one knew of a menu existing that you could take with you but I got one!

This place was great! Very nice lady's working here! Made a very good chicken sandwich. Really good french fries also! If your in the area and hungry id definitely try it out!

I ordered a pepper steak with grilled onions and the sandwich tasted good! The fries were fresh and tasted good also.
Never disappoint! Been going here since I was a little girl with my family. Now we take our boys on occasion. Family owned, they're all so nice. Small and Busy around 11:30/12 so preorder if you can. DELICIOUS and worth it!
Pretty good. A no frills atmosphere which is perfect for grabbing a lunch and going. Good price, decent fries, toppings and bread was good. Hoped for a little better meat, but it wasn't bad at all. I'll eat here again and look forward to it.
The sandwiches are very good. The italian sub is probably the best I've had in Pittsburgh. You also can't beat the price! There's plenty of room to sit and eat there, and the folks that work there are super friendly.
