The crab cakes were more filler than crab and the fries were just not good. However the atmosphere and service were top notch. The drinks were made with care and perfect. The history of this place is pretty cool.

Awesome hole in the wall kinda spot. There is a lot of history here but the food here wad really good too as well as the drinks. The staff are really friendly and it seemed like everyone that came in was treated like a regular. The Oyster shooters are interesting being in a plastic cup but they were super fresh. The fish sandwiches on the other hand.....amazing! I'll be back to check it out next time I'm in town.

Fish sandwich was great. Went with my parents who went there over 50 years ago when they were dating. My dad ordered the same sandwich over 50 years ago. Place is a landmark and has been operating since the 1800s.

Jumbo Fish = Yes!!! Delicious! If you are ever in town, you must stop by this Pittsburgh staple. This place has been around for over 100 years! Owner Mrs. G (Renee) was our phenomenal waitress/server. She was attentive, down to earth and had great conversation. Mrs G. gave us a history lesson and delivered one of the best fresh, light, and tasty fried cod sandwiches that we’ve had in a while. Note: Enter through the bar, they will guide you into the indoor seating and patio if you prefer to sit outside. 2 beers, 2 fountain drinks, 2 fish and fries and chicken tenders all about $40.

We wanted something authentic while eating downtown Pittsburgh at the Square and we came across the cutest little place. It’s such a gem !! Turns out it’s the oldest restaurant in Pittsburgh at 153 years and going!! Mrs G and her daughter and staff keep the place alive. I swear it’s the best fresh fried cod I’ve ever had!! Hot and crispy with homemade dipping sauces. The spicy vinegar was to die for.!! Mrs G was so sweet she gave us a personal tour and pointed out all the famous celebrities and atheists and even beauty queens that have been eating there for centuries!! It has the original subway tile the longest stainless steel bar and a super cool dumb waiter !! There’s also gorgeous crystal leaded glass windows !! Please go and check out the great old photos and best fish ever!! Thank you Mrs G I felt like you were family 💗

LOVE The Original Oyster House, downtown Pittsburgh. Great fish, great oysters, great employees, great historic Pittsburgh bar. Great memories too. Hate the aggressive panhandlers. They intimidate me. Wish the Mayor could help with this problem so we could enjoy The Original Oyster House again. We miss it.
